I was a semifinalist contestant in the Extreme Teen Contest for WYKS 95.5 radio station in Washington DC . The challenge was to write a song to Give Drugs A Bad Rap. I had the opportunity to record my song in a professional studio and perform it at the event. KristinaI think many female singers lack soul in their sound. I’m a hip hop fan but love when my favorite hip hop artists slow it down. I’m an only child and I’ve always sang to myself. Never thought much of it until people told me I was good. After my recent long term break up I feel like the emotions have taken my singing to a whole new greater level. I have been struggling through the last three years to do college full time online while having children. I had my first child in the middle of my first year of college and still managed to graduate with honors with my associate’s degree with a 3.7 GPA overall. I am now going into my fourth year of college majoring in English and still have a 3.7 GPA. I want to be a role model for my children and show them that anything worth doing is hard. Music has helped me through many rough times and gotten me to where I am now. Last year, 2013, was the worse year of my life. I lost my car, got evicted twice, me & my mom was homeless, had to put my dad in a nursing home & I had to sit out a semester from college because my financial aid ran out. I never gave up on GOD or lost faith. Thank God I have a new car, I just graduated from Southern University in Baton Rouge with a B.A. In Music Performance & I’m not homeless anymore. I can’t say it enough but MUSIC is my passion! I’m so glad I am able to live a normal grounded life and I’ve made it through the highs and lows. BUT IM READY to take my dreams to the next level. I’ve been singing since the age of 1 & I always told myself I would be a star. No one believed in me but I believed in myself. There are no outlets in Louisiana. I wanted to break a cycle and be the first to graduate out of my family and I did. Now I really want to start grinding with my music. I just need some help. I know I may be late and should have been grinding but honestly I didn’t know how. I’m a hard worker, passionate, dedicated, driven, ambitious and HUNGRY for this music. I know fame comes with being a celebrity, but that’s not what I’m focused on. Honestly I want to inspire, tell my story, show the people in my hood that they can make their dreams come true & also do what I love doing at the same time, SING! I just created a YouTube page, I’m about to create a webpage to promote myself. I know there are many singers out there but there’s only ONE ME! Ariel GerardI am a 28 year old female singer born and raised in Canada. I started singing when I was 9 years old and quickly found a home on stages all over the world. Why I am so passionate about singing and performing is that the irony of a life in pursuit of the arts is that you must travel, be so surrounded by people but also so alone at the same time. The beauty is that if performance pulses through your veins, then the stage is more of a home than any location or surrounding will ever be. Unfortunately to find these stages, I’ve left my loved ones…my husband….for months at a time. I have performed in various bands and musical theatre shows all over Canada, the US, China, Indonesia, Scotland and Bahrain. I currently live with my husband in Curacao. He is going to school and taking more of a direct route in hopes to secure our future but my heart and passions leave me to be a forever stage seeking gypsy. I feel like being on The Voice will allow me to continue to do what I have loved for so long but also give me an opportunity to build a more stable and grounded life within music. I long for a life that allows me to give back to the support system I have. My loved ones have seen me leave them so many times to go off and live in hotel rooms for months and years at a time. Robert HughesMy name is Robert Hughes. I am a 30-year old Dallas native with a passion for music. My favorite Genre is Mariachi music, now although that might not be that unique what is unique is that I am 100% white with no Latino background, but I am fluent in Spanish and love to perform these traditional songs. Everywhere I go, whether it be birthday parties, Quiciñeras, or the like I get numerous compliments and encouragement to do something with my voice and I have never thought I could… I have watched The Voice and thought I never really matched up but my wife, family and so many others can’t be wrong. I am not any different than everyone up here in that I am just hoping to say what you are looking for in order to get a shot. One thing I can say for sure is that you have never had anyone like me on your show before… The highly Latin-influenced part of today’s viewers are sure to love my love for traditional Spanish music and those that are not are sure to be drawn in with my voice and ability to sing country music as well… These are just my favorite genres but I can sing anything with a little practice… I sincerely appreciate you reading my comment and I hope you will allow me the opportunity to show you everything I have said here… thank you again! Christopher FritscheGrowing up I was very shy and never talked to anyone. I suffered through those years scared and alone. I found comfort in music. I would lock myself in my room and listen to my walkman for hours and would sing along but would never do it around anyone for fear of being laughed at. In 2002 when my mother passed away I made a promise that i wouldnt let my past repeat itself and control me. I stepped out onto a stage at a local bar and sang my first song and from then on i was hooked. I have always found comfort in music and the message it brings. All i want is to sing and perform so that just maybe my music might bring peace and comfort to that next person going through the same thing I did. This is everything to me and I will stop at nothing to make it to the top. I hope and pray this is my venue that God has chosen for me to rise from.
