ANTOINE SMITHI am a 25 year old Hip – Hop rapper and Lyricist. I moved to Florida with my girl and kids. i can easily say that it was a mistake, or was it a blessing. We sold everything to get here. My girl was two months pregnant at the time with twins. We were living with her aunt that after a month kicked us out of her house. We were sleeping in our van for about 2 weeks until we were able to get a room at the Coalision for the Homeless in Orlanod, FL. My girls and I and 3 kids were sleeping in a small bedroom. Sleeping on metal buckbeds; like the ones they have in jail. I was working at Universal studios at the time and there I started to network. i started networking and out branching to anyone and everyone to get my music know and heard. During the stay at the shelter I met a lady that put me up with her daughter that is friends with TI’S wife in Atlanta. She was my manager for a while and was able to book some gigs and performances. We were able to move out of the shelter but still was struggling since my girl couldn’t work. We moved to an exteded stay hotel. In the hood. We did not know what it was like living in the hood until we actuall experienced it. It’s just like it is protrayed in the movies. No lie. I kept on going through different managers but still manage to book performances in the Orlando and Kissimmee area. I’ve had a TV interview and performance with A-plug, an AFROTAINMENT production were I met my new mangager Aaron. In the past 3 years i have had personal problems. But i finally got help about a year ago. My family and friends saved me but singing did as well. Without it i don’t think i’d be here. I help people who self harm, who are depressed, suicidal, and totally lost with themselves. SandyI would appreciate your consideration for my son, James. He is 21 yrs old and an amazing singer. James has been honored with a variety of awards, such as “best male vocalist” and “best actor” from musical theatre. A few years ago, James was selected for his outstanding voice from 40,000 other hopeful contestants for a reality singing competition. He was flown to Hollywood where he was eventually cut. The fact that he impressed the casting directors and blew them away with his voice speaks volumes. When he left the competition, he did it with such a wonderfully humble attitude, telling everyone that it was an incredible experience and he still keeps in touch with those who were selected and eventually made the cut. The last two seasons, James and i auditioned for the voice and i am very proud to say that I was in the same group as him. In the audition, he came very close to being selected. The judge had him sing an additional song, which is huge, when you are in that room with 9 other hopefuls and only one or two are ever asked to sing an additional song. The judge struggled and ultimately let James slip through her fingers. When he sings, you feel the emotions and you experience the powerful story he is telling. He has a heart of gold and is a wonderful son, grandson, nephew and friend to many. He is respectful and trustworthy. He deserves a chance. No, the world deserves a chance to hear him sing. My most silliest thing I ever did as a child would be when I learned to play the piano by ear and I would write songs then randomly call telephone numbers and sing to people just so I could ask them to complete my survey on how well they liked my songs. I always seemed to get such a wonderful response and from then on my dream has never died. I grew up with Barbra Mandrel and the Mandrel Sisters, Donny & Marie and of course the most loved woman in all country music Miss Dolly Parton, but don’t let that fool you. I have loved all types of music throughout my life from Yanni, Celine Dion to Chris Brown. I am truly a music junky. I would love to share more of my crazy amazing life if you are interested in a ton of up hill and down-hill battles. I tell you there are times I swear my life could be a Lifetime movie of the week. I like country music because I can relate so much to it and others can as well. I currently reside in Ocala, FL still trying to chase the dream – I’ve done numerous talent shows in grade school, pageants, musicals, American Idol when I was 16, and about to try out for the voice in July. I love to sing because it is a part of me and it’s a part of other people. There’s no greater feeling. I want this for myself and for my dad. My dad has raised triplets and is the hardest worker I know. He’s 60 and still can’t retire. I want this. My family wants this. My friends want this for me. Please, give me a chance because you won’t regret it. I also plan on doin acting in the near future because acting gives me an ‘edge’. It’s intellectually stimulating and it’s fun.
