April ReedMy name is April Reed, I’ve been through so much in my short life it’s almost unbelievable, almost. However throughout everything that’s happened in my life over the years the one constant I’ve always had is that I want to be a Singer because I love to sing and music and no matter what kind of situation or what life may have thrown at me I could always find a song that I could relate to, or make me feel better, explain or help me understand, reguardless of what it was I needed to help me get through a particular time in life, whether it was normal day to day things like cleaning the house or gettin ready for work to the bigger most life changing events in life like the happiest days of your life (like the day your children were born), or the saddest kind (like the day your brother died)… Whatever the event or impact it has had or has on me & my life I always know that I’ll be able to find some music that I can sing my heart out to and everything about the situation instantly feels better. Jeneane MorelloI firmly believe that there is a reason for everything and everyone that comes into our lives. Whether or not these people or experiences become a constant in our future is up to us. My life is blessed with music. As a child going to sleep at night, I listened to my mother sing to me. I remember thinking, at only 2 or 3 years old, how she sounded like an Angel. I listened and watched her, trying to learn how to make such a beautiful sound. One night I told her that I could sing too, and asked if I could sing with her. Our voices sounded like chimes ringing! I will never forget that! When I was 6 years old, I told everyone I wanted to be on Star Search;) Lol…that shows my age already! I am about to celebrate my 36th birthday next month, and look like I’m in my early twenties (this is according to everyone who can’t believe I could be so old…lol). I had 3 loves as a child: gymnastics, singing and baseball. My parents did not have the money for all 3, so I chose singing! I have to say that it was the best decision I ever made! To this day I have numerous awards and letters of recognition from over the years. My mother made a portfolio with everything I had accomplished. I even received a letter from Congress for being an Outstanding Role Model in the Performing Arts Community on Long Island, NY. Music is the one thing that has kept me strong as an individual. Every friend I’ve made, every love I’ve known, every heartbreak I’ve endured has been a result of my gift of song. I was meant to be a singer! Without my voice I am not sure where I would be today! BronzeHi! My name is Bronze and I am 15 years old. I was always different from a very young age. So kids at school always picked on me because of that. When I was in middle school I became very depressed. Never smiled, never did anything that didnt fit into my daily schedule. I always had a strong passion for singing, and one of my friends filmed me singing. A very good friend of mine had asked me to sing in front of all of his friends. I was so nervous beyond words, that I sung one line of a song,and I ran. He later found me and said that I sounded really good. Right in that moment, the world that I had bult around me, full of dark and depressing things, begun to crack. Ever since then I always sung when people asked, and my depression,the suicidal tendencies soon were gone. I won the USA world showcase when I was in the eighth grade and was lucky enough to perform at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada! I graduated high school with high honors and won a minority award for my district. I just completed my first year of college and I have done all of this being a single teen mother! I first started singing in church on the childrens choir at the age of 3. Growing up I would always hear my mother sining, and it was something about her voice that caused my passion for singing to grow stronger. I can remember times that I would sit and go through her CD collection for hours and listen to all the genre’s of music she had, and would sing along with the music. As I got older, I learned to appreciate music more for the way it made me feel, and how powerful the feeling was an how music seemed to help me understand different things in life more. CALLUM RAFFERTYHi I am Callum Rafferty age 15. I have played the guitar since the age of seven .I have spent the last three years recording and songwriting in a little studio my dad made for me. My parents are really supportive by taking me where ever I get the chance to perform as they know music is a major part of my life . Not a day passes by without my music , I tend to spend every day playing or writing or dreaming about the chance to make a career in music. I have played at numerous open mic events, performed at great venues including Indigo 02, Roundhouse Camden, Dingwells Camden, London Festival, Rochester Castle Underseige. The largest audience I have performed infront of is 5,000 people. I use a loop pedal to perform live as it allows me to build up percussion and harmonies on the spot, it gives me the chance to perform with a live backing track that I create (live) on the spot, although only a 15 year old solo artist with a loop pedal , I won a recent competition called Band Slam , as they considered I was a one man band. My parents tried and tried to get me up on stage because they heard my voice in the car and knew I’d make it. I had the worst stage fright. So I’ve sung in my school chorus ever since kindergarden. Jenna LauriseHey there! My name is Jenna Laurise and I’m from Denver, Colorado. I began performing professionally in musical theatre when I was 12, but then I took several different paths in life, only to come back to pursuing my dream as a singer/songwriter. I grew up with my dad playing guitar and harmonizing in 3 part harmony with my sister. He died from lung cancer 8 years ago at the age of 52 and now a big part of my dream is to make him proud. I have worked so hard endlessly training to get better as a singer, pianist and songwriter, and at the same time working and taking care of my family. I even have my Master’s degree in Vocal Performance in Jazz and Commercial Music from the University of Denver. I have had the opportunity to work for Disney and regularly gig at different venues around town. I released my first CD last summer, and I’m currently working on my second album. I am also working on releasing several music videos on youtube. The sound that I’m going for is blues/soul/pop, sort of a cross between Adele, Etta James, and Joss Stone. My biggest challenge is time. I coach about 35 students in singing a week so that my family can stay afloat financially. I have a husband and two awesome young boys who come to many of my gigs and totally believe that their mom is the best singer in the world! Whenever they see other singing shows, they always get made that I’m not on them. (Don’t want to audition because they seem so fake/rigged). In the end, my dream is that the same songs that have made people laugh and cry at my gigs will eventually impact as many people as possible. Doreen Forbes-MonnetteI am a singer since I was 10 years old, in the local school club. I have been singing gospel for many years, and have recently written 11 songs. I competed in a Championship for Performing Arts and came away with 1 silver and 2 bronze medals! I am now training with the same voice coach that the stars use. I had to find out about and here I am this morning! I have sang most of my life. Been in country bands and one rock band singing 80’s type rock. I am a Female, age 46, 5ft 7in, 125lbs, blonde, and recently just got married July 26th of this year. I live in a rural area of Iowa called Marble Rock. It has been quite the ordeal for me, cause I moved from Washington state to here almost two years ago and there are no venues or country bands around for me to showcase my talent. That’s the only time I can perform infront of others. But I still sing here at home, play my guitar, wrote another song, and sing for my family. alexandra brentHi, I’m Alexandra Rene Brent. I have been performing since I was 5 years old, the stage is my comfort zone, when i’m on stage I feel/think of nothing but the music, it rushes through my bloodstream and gives me a huge rush of adrenaline! Just like everyone else who has commented above me this is my dream, I don’t know how many times I have told my family I want to be in the big headlights! But two years ago I fainted in school and wasn’t able to talk or walk for two weeks, when i got the results back from my test my Dr. found that I am diagnosed with Arnold’s Chiari Malformation which is a structural defect in the cerebellum. The resulting pressure on the cerebellum can block the flow of cerebrospinal fluid and can cause a range of symptoms including dizziness, muscle weakness, numbness, vision problems, headache, loss of voice and problems with balance and coordination. On Feb 2nd I had decompression surgery to remove one of the three tumors on my brain. Sadly ACM is not curable and the Dr. said i’m going to have to have surgery again my voice isn’t the same as it use to so I don’t push it to much but when I do karaoke competitions in town I give it my all, singing with soul and emotion. Like I said before I let the music feel me and it just sends chills through my spine! I also just love feeling that connection with the audience. And the things and pain I have been through and when I am on stage I let it all out with a powerful song and I just love to leave the audience with a huge smile! Music is my life and making people feel the music like I do, well that’s a huge accomplishment I’m willing to achieve! Like i’ve told my friends and family many times I’m not going to let this disease steal my voice away from me again so if I can just sing on a HUGE stage like my dream since i was 5 years old happen just one time I would be the happiest human being alive. But if I don’t make it to this I won’t stop giving up! I have been so close to the headlights so many times and I let my illness bring me down and this time I’m looking past it!
