I would absolutely LOVE to be on The Star Next Door. I am “The Star Next Door”. I am one of those altos that you least expect to hear power coming out of my 5’6, 120lb frame. I have been singing and even acting for years locally, in various capacities in my hometown of Atlanta, GA. However, singing is my passion. I love to sing! Singing is truly my gift from God. Singing is my life! I am an entertainment business student who has went back to school to get my BA and I am finishing up my MAS. At this point in my life, I really need the right exposure and the right connection to provide me with the type of work that I want to do, love to do, and enjoy doing – to be a professional singer. So please do not hesitate to give me a chance to showcase my talent for The Star Next Door. Thank you.

I am a classical crossover artist who has sung at Carnegie Hall with my high school choir, with Howard Shore for The Lord of the Rings soundtrack with my Otterbein College choir and in the cathedrals in Vienna and in Prague with Otterbein as well. I have been a wedding singer and church soloist for years. I have several hundred followers here and in my home state of Ohio on my facebook page. I have auditioned for American Idol and America’s Got Talent, only to find they are not looking for a classical singer who has contemporary influences. I would love the opportunity to show you what I can do here in Wilmington, North Carolina. Thanks for your time and consideration.

  6. Johnny D

I’m writing for a young lady DaNica Shirey. She lives in Cali right now but is from small town in PA (Red Lion). DaNica recently lost her dad to cancer who was everything to her and was the man behind the voice! And a voice DaNica has! Here’s her list of accomplishments:
-Only minor (she was barely 15) to win Amateur Night at The Apollo competing against the adults!
-First winner of the largest on line singing competition
-David Foster hand picked her to perform with him as part of national tour twice!
-PLEASE take a listen to her on youtube.com/danicashirey and you be the judge.
If there ever was a singer qualified and worthy (she’s been gigging since 14) of a shot at stardom this young lady certainly is the one!

  7. Kinya

Wow! This really sounds like it is going to be a GREAT show! I have been singing since I was a young girl. Id like to say that I got my start by singinrg out of my gradma’s window. I use to sing and hope one day someone would hear me. I have a passion for singing/music and I would love to further my career by sharing my gift with a broader audience. I like singing and putting a smile on peoples faces. I have the drive and dedication to be a driving force in the music industry! I hope to share my voice with you soon! Thanks!

  8. Courtney Chay

I am a 20 year old aspiring Singer/songwriter/performer! I have been singing since the age of 4. Here recently one of my strong singing idols “Whitney Houston” went on to be with the Lord! Thank God that my mother introduced me to her music at an early age! Whitney was the best vocalist that has ever lived!! I have studied Ms. Houstons style, grace and elegance on the stage for years! Its true that there will be no other like her, but I do believe that my talent is similar to hers! I want to help bring back true vocal abilities and singing. I want to be the next Whitney Houston, but in the voice of Courtney Chay!! Please choose me to be apart of the show. !!!!!

  9. Kayla O'Leary

You HAVE to come to Tampa Fl. I won’t let you down and this is a promise!! I am 22. I have been singing all my life. Music is the only thing in my childhood and upbrigning that I could control and really express myself through. I lost my mother young and my father when I was
17 which just pushed me harder and gave me some motivationg for writing. I also play piano.. I was a vocalist in the NAVY and gained so much skill through them. I gained the experience I needed to realy transform me into the performer I wanted to become and I want to continue to be BETTER! I have a very soulful voice. Powerhouse. 🙂 I believe that in order to be a good musician you have to know about ALL types of music and challenge yourself. I LOVE pressure and a good challenge and I am very jazz, bluesy, R&B influenced but I have my own style that I bring out in every song. I love to connect with people and give them something to relate to. I am very humble but also very confident and driven. I have been through so much but it only made me STRONGER and gave me a unique outlook on life.

No fancy story and no gimmicks here….Some people think they have it, few actually know they do. Some choose it, few actually know they were chosen by it.. I represent that peculiar few. Music is the life and death and rebirth of me, from r&b/hiphop to negro spirituals and opera. I’m ready and hungry. Jersey Lady located in her hometown S.C., is all you need, aka ME.

  11. Megan

OHHHH!!! My husband would be PERFECT for this. He has a gift from God like no other. He sings and performs with his whole heart and soul!! He sings gospel, pop, r&b you name it! And its about time Jasper Ga be put on the map too!! – Brian Rittenberry.

  12. Deanne Black

You should come to Burlington, CT because I am a small town girl who loves to sing but in the land where everyone knows your name but everyone else in the world thinks you are a coat factory there are absolutly no opportunities. My first ever talent show was at a hoedown in my town, when I was in fifth grade and I won best crowd pleaser singing “breaking up is hard to do.” I have been singing since I was doing harmonies with my mom to the dixie chicks on car rides with my mother. My dream is to sing and have my music heard because music is possibly the most powerful influence and force in the world. I watch all of these talent competitions and the extreme happiness I feel for each and everyone of those contestants that hear that yes, makes me even more confident and eager for that day that I finally get my yes!

To: Queen Latifah, the mentors and CW,
I should be considered because MUSIC is my passion. God blessed me with a voice and I want to be able to share it and bless it with others. I believe I’m good enough to be “The Star Next Door”. I’ve been dreaming of a moment like this my entire life. I earned a vocal scholarship to Kentucky State University. I’m confident, passionate and I take direction well from others. I will listen to the mentors and do what is asked of me. I come from a small town in KY where dreams and opportunity do not exist. I would like to give hope to the people in my hometown and show them that dreams do come true by being a contestant on your show. Becoming a STAR is my dream. I believe finding this show is fate. I just need one chance and I pray that the ONE CHANCE is with you.
    Thank you,
    Noland Pruitt

  15. Jay Miles

  16. Moria Marianna Moore

    Yo!!!
I’m 17 years old, I’m a Senior at Oakland School for the Arts! I walk down the hallways with artists everyday, the talent at OSA is astonishing, and it’s sad that we don’t have a lot of artists or guest speakers coming to our school. Oakland has been stereotyped by the violence that goes on but it is actually an extremely artistic town, with so much great talent! I personally am a singer/emcee, I sing r&b neo-soul country pop rock, and flow hip hop. I dedicate 100% of my time to the game, it’s all that I am…all that I want to be! Music was there to replace the empty spaces that were innately given to me, and I’m so glad to say my cup is beginning to fill up, finding my place in the world which I honestly believe is music, and to show young women that anything is possible, with the right determination and mind set! Queen Latifah definitely was about a gallon of the love that filled up my cup, I don’ think I would be where I am today without her, she has truly made an impact in my life, this just adds another two gallons hahaha! I love what I do, and I’m committed and passionate, and i mean COME ON ITS THE BAY AREA!!! There’s nothing you can’t find out here ! 🙂

    Much love,
    MoMo!

  24. Vanessa Rodriguez

For as long as I could remember singing has been all I have ever wanted to do. I have been singing on stage since I was about three years old at my grandparent’s church. 4 years ago I lost my grandma and exactly two years after that my grandpa passed away. After that, I don’t want to say that I gave up on music, but I stopped performing. I would only sing around my house, but I still had that passion. I recently moved to Palm Bay, fl and my attitude has changes immensely and I cannot imagine my life any way other than singing. Now I sing at church almost every week or every chance I get. There can be so much going on in my life, but when I am on stage singing all my problems disappear, I am not worried about anyone, and I simply feel alive! I want this more that anything in the world, not only for myself, but also for the two best people I will ever know in my life, my grandparents. Plus, I know that I have a long way to go with my voice still and getting to work with true professionals that really know what it takes is more that I can ever ask for.

  25. Moria Moore

Yo! My name is Moria [mah-ry-uh] Moore, I was born and raised in the Bay Area, I’m 17 years old. I’m a singer/rapper/songwriter with a very ecclectic style from R&B/Hip Hop to Country/Pop, I don’t ever want to be “limited” to anything. This summer I will be moving to Los Angeles,CA to pursue my dreams while going to college at AMDA and studying film/tv. Also I’ve been dreaming of meeting Queen Latifah since I was 5 years old, literally “shes in my dreams”, and for me to be on a show produced by her would be, wow, abosoulutely a dream come true please contact me with further information on the show!

  26. Tyler Layne

Star Next Door should visit Hampton Roads, Virginia! I am a 16 year old pop recording artist. I have been singing professionally since I was 8 years old. Got my start in the Radio Disney Pop Group RD7 and began recording original music when I was 11 years old. You would love it here! It’s a great place to live but I really would like the opportunity to go to the West coast to rep Chesapeake, VA as part of the show!!
    Thank you, Tyler

  27. Gloria Ransome

Thank you for this opportunity to be able to submit my comment for your review. I can’t tell you how much I love to sing. Singing has been in my life from birth. My father used to sing in a gospel group so I believe I get my abilities from him. My nick-name is “Birdie” because my mom says I used to humm in my crib as a baby. I love to sing! I sang in school in the choir and wanted to be in every show. I love to sing! Through every beautiful moment and/or not so beautiful moment in my life, I went to music for comfort. I love to sing! When I heard that Queen Latifah and Gloria Estefan was apart of this show I was even more interested because I love those two women. They have also inspired me over the years. I am from Newark, New Jersey and always followed “The Queen” I was at the apollo theatre years ago (aprox. late 80’s) when she first handed out her first record that was coming out. Love it and have followed her in movies and music, television and covergirl. Gloria Estefan is so blessed and beautiful her music is soothing yet uplifting -” Words get in the way” I must have played that song two hundred times. “Turn the beat around” is just a great song. She inspired me, Queen has inspired me as well as Whitney Houston-still can’t really wrap my head around it, she was also a very big part of my life and Mariah Carey as well-her music tells a story and I can identify with alot of her songs. I just want to sing and show the world that I have a gift to offer and a story to tell. Please consider me for your show…I have been trying to sing for years and have gotten very very close but no cigar! I am praying for a shot…..you won’t be disappointed. Sincerely, Gloria

  29. Priscilla

Once again, I turn to music to save me. I am a very positive, sassy, quick-witted person, but life is wearing me down right now. My parents are losing our family home and at 65 years old, they are trying to find new jobs to support them and a place to live. It breaks my heart that I am in no position to help b/c my husband got laid off in October and though I work as hard as I can, I can barely keep our heads above water.
I am a local voice teacher and singer in Orlando, and I feel so grateful to have a job that I love. I work with young, aspiring opera and musical theatre singers that I just adore. Every day is filled with music and laughter and love. One of my students is a National Semi-Finalist for the Metropolitan Opera Competition in NY this coming weekend, and another is on the National Tour of “Beauty and the Beast” as the cover for Belle!!
I believe in myself. I am a great singer of all genres from opera to pop…from standards to classic rock, and what I need most is a break.

  30. Sierra Young

Hi, my names Sierra. I’m sixteen years old and I’m an aspiring singer and actress. My dream is to be on broadway when Im older. I sing in shows, and outside theatre groups. I have a lot of range; I can hit alto and soprano notes. I’m really a dedicated girl, and very strong willed. If I could even have the opportunity for this I know I would take it and put 120% into it. I perform with my heart, whether its singing or acting. I have a lot of passion for this. I would happy singing anywhere, just as long as Im singing. But this chance to go even bigger than that is spectacular. Thank you for reading this, and for keeping me posted with auditions.

    Thank You,
    Sierra Young

  32. Kristen Hess

Hello! I’m Kristen Hess and I live in Reno, Nevada. 😀 I am fifteen years old and I will be sixteen in May. I grew up in Laramie, Wyoming but moved to Nevada to be closer to family, and I love it here. Singing has ALWAYS been a dream of mine and I enjoy performing more than I do anything else. I love to entertain a crowd and it is my biggest joy! I have literally been singing since before I can remember. My mom tells me that I would not eat until she sang for me and I would sing a three note arpeggio to ask her to sing for me. I’ve sung the National Anthem for many events, including the Reno Aces three years in a row, and many rodeos, including The PBR event in Cheyenne, Wyoming two years in a row! I’ve also won many different talent shows, and have performed hour long concerts for 4th of July celebrations. I was given the opportunity to advertise on a radio station about the concerts as well. In addition, I have been in choirs since the fifth grade, and had a singing instructor for a year. I have also had the opportunity to record in a professional studio! I also have been playing the piano since I was four and a half, and I now teach myself songs in a matter of a couple weeks. I am an honors student, and school is also very important to me. I truthfully believe that I would be perfect for your contest! There is nothing I would love more than to have the opportunity to become a professional singer/performer. Please consider me when choosing your destinations and contestants, I will not let you down!! 😀

I have been singing since I was a little girl, I first started singing in the church, and now I teach my 10 & 5 year old daughters to sing as well. 36. Shar Marlin

I am a stay at home mom of 2 and would love the chance to become a star. I turned 40 last year and have always been told that I have a strong voice, but doing this will take my talent to another level. Being an African American woman, I have always admired Queen Latifah, from her hip hop days, to her stellar performance in Chicago, her lovely jazz albums, and movies, It would be a huge dream come true to not just meet her but to also work with her or even be mentored by her. Please pick me, I have a winning personality and I know that I will have such a fantastic time!

  37. Bob Rawleigh

I’ve been singing semi-professionally since I was 12 yrs old. I got started in Los Angeles in 1967 singing for radio station KGFJ’s “Soul Search”. They gave talent in the neighborhood a chance to show their stuff. I was hooked ever since. I’m now 58 yrs old. Most of my singing the last 30 yrs,has been in church as a Worship leader singing “Inspirational Music”. I have released 4 cd’s of inspirational music, and this Feb. 2012 I released my first Jazz CD of the Classic songs of Nat King Cole, Sinatra, Tony Bennett and many others. There are so many amazing voices of young folks these days, so i’m not sure there is much interest in an old crooner like me. I will always sing in church, thats my foundation, but I must say its been a real treat to entertain a new audince with the “Classics”! I live here in No.Calf. near Lake Tahoe. I have been pleasantly suprised that this is also Wine Country. The pairing of wine tasting & me singing Classic love songs has become a good fit for the Wine Club’s clientel. Its just been so fun to put on my white dinner jacket and sing Love songs to such and upscale, sophisticated, group of folks. Its been so unexpected for me to be this age, and find there is still a market for me to have a career outside the walls of the church. Thank you for your consideration. I hope your show is a great success!
    Sincerely,
    Bob Rawleigh

  38. Stefan Salters

To be in your hometown and have mentors like that coming to you WOW! I have a very versatile voice and can do rock, pop, country, you name it. I would LOVE the opportunity to be involved in this project.

  40. Cait Shanahan

I am a singer/songwriter from Madison, Wisconsin. I have a ton of performance experience as well as a couple of albums under my belt. I have been working towards success in the industry for the last 8 years and while I know that “big breaks” are rare and I have not been counting on one, it’s exciting to think that one is possible. Please keep me updated!!

  42. Dessa

I’m in a duo called Harmon Creek. We live in a very small town by the name of Burgettstown in Pennsylvania. We’ve been playing together for almost 5 years and have gotten the chance to open up for many touring acts. We feel that living in a small town limits our chances of really making it in this industry. Would love your help! Please keep us updated 🙂

  43. Sarah

I would be honored to represent Mobile, AL on The Star Next Door!

  44. Neiman Manuel

Well I am an aspiring artist and I know I have what it takes to be in the music industry. I first of all have talent, and I have been blessed with the ability to endure tought circumstances, which I have persevered throughout my life. I am a competitor, regardless of what I am doing, there is not such thing as second best. I WILL BE THE BEST. I am an observer, and quick learner. I do not always jump head first into anything, without knowing the foundation of it. I embody spontaneity, but also have much control over my life. I know where I have come from, I know where I am, and I know where I want to be. Singing is truly a deep passion of mine, and it is a MUST that I do so. It’s my life’s goal and will not stop until I am doing just that. I encompass what a true artist is, and have learned how to balance this thing called life. What more would you want from a true artist? One of my motto’s in life is “if you are afforded an opportunity, exhaust every possiblity that it could create.” All I need is an opportunity…

  45. Celina Gomez

My Fiance Chris and I are talented young (26/28) Latinos that have dedicated our lives to music. It was in fact, music that cemented our friendship that turned into love. We recently moved from Albuquerque, NM to Washington DC in hope of finding greater opportunities. We could think of nothing greater than a career based on music, singing and sharing our talents every-single-day. In todays society, we see a much smaller percentage of Latinos performing and being successful in music. We hit brick walls and get discouraged because it seems young hispanics making it in music competition shows (Idol, XFactor, etc…) are few and far between; especially as a couple/duet. We have been told our voices blend amazing well giving rise to amazing harmonies! All we know is that singing makes us extremely happy. We would love the opportunity to work with Gloria Estefan and Queen Latifah!

  46. Anthony Close

I would love to be apart of the show, I have been singing since I was five years old. It would be a dream come true if I were to win. Please keep me updated.

  50. Shantale Person aka Ms Proper

Hello, I would love to be on “The Star Next Door” . Here is my bio. Thank you for your time. Shantale Person was born in Fayetteville, NC on May 28, 1987. As a young child her family eventually settled in Chesterfield, VA and as the years went by her family and peers did not know that she would grow up to be the lyricist she is today. Being brought up by a very poetic mother she learned to express her emotions through poetry and song. As Shantale began looking for a name to define herself the name Ms Proper came to her during a car ride one afternoon. Ms Proper felt the name fit her not only lyrically but personally. She is at the forefront of the city’s renaissance of talented Hip Hop artists. Since her first release “Addicted To The Game” in 2007, she refined her craft and gained notice from both industry and fans; yet it was her 2nd mixtape release “The Wake Up”; her sophomore project released in 2009, which put Ms Proper on the map. In 2010, Ms Proper released her 3rd mixtape, “Proper Etiquette”, which received even more attention from fans and industry insiders. Her music has been featured on three different Digital Dynasty mixtapes within the year and she was recently nominated for the Indie Elite Achievement Award. She has opened for Jae Millz, Big K.R.I.T, Cyhi Da Prince, Rah The MC, Force MD’s, Olivia, Mims, and Pretty Ricky. After two auditions on March 12, 2011 Ms Proper was chosen by executive producer and writer of B.E.T’s 106 & Park, Pat Charles, to perform on the show which would later air on July 13, 2011. Ms Proper’s 4thmixtape” #NoDaysOff” featuring DJ White Owl was released July 2, 2011 and is destined to show people more of what this artist and CEO of her own label, So Proper Entertainment, has in store. Continuing her music career and embarking on a new journey as co-host of the online radio show Rated R Radio, Ms Proper is always on the microphone and always ready for her next challenge.

  64. Jennifer

I am the epitome of the Star Next Door! As a 31 year old mom and step mom of five kids under the age of 10, I spend my days shuttling kids to cheering, football, soccer, baseball, and basketball, and my nights singing in a band. There are few things that make me as happy as being on stage, singing for a crowd, and putting 100% of myself into each and every song I sing. I would love the opportunity to not only learn from other artists, but to be able to provide for my family by doing something that I love!! This would be a really amazing opportunity for me!

  65. Liz Regnitz

I’m a little girl with a lot of attitude, a big voice, and a lot of soul. Music is not only my one true love, but the only relationship i haven’t run from for a fear of commitment. Until the day i die music won’t ever hurt me or disappoint me and it will always be there to offer what ever i need on any particular day. For all those words sung by all the voices that i love, i want to write those words and be that voice for some other young girl coming up with a dream.

  66. Jordan Martinez

Please keep me posted on auditions

  67. Chris

I am an aspiring artist that has had a song on my heart from day one. Blessed by God above, my voice and more importantly; music has been instrumental in getting me through some of the most difficult moments in my life. I have been pursuing my artistry over 10 years and have been blessed to have had some notable artists encourage and support my passion. My qmbition is to create great music of substance and serve as a tool to invigorate every feeling of emotion and pull every heart string leaving a resoning sound to all that listens. I could go on and on with reasons, but to sum it all up. Im poised, positioned, and humbly destined for musical success. It is my aim to be known as a sound and not just an artist. Feel good music is back…

    Respectfully Submitted,

    C.Keys
    Atlanta, Ga.

  68. Pearl Clarkin

Pearl is the perfect name of either a girl from and island on the Gulf Coast or a country singer. I happen to be both. Born and raised on Pensacola Beach, Florida, this girl next door is set on becoming a star in Nashville. What you won’t learn about me from my facebook musician page when you see video clips of me singing at Nashville Hard Rock or 12th and Porter is how incredibly hard it is to leave my island paradise to learn the craft of becoming a country music star. Come see me play the home crowd in the white sands of Santa Rosa Island at my Bands on the Beach concert July 17th. The whole gulf coast from Texas to Tallahassee sees me as a little jewel, a 17 year old who is their “girl next door”. They root for me as loud as they can through social networks but have little understanding of what happens during my time in Music City, trying to make my way. They are so sure I will make it… and I am the Star Next Door…. maybe I am (: Come to paradise and find out.

  69. Brandon Gray

Im in West Palm Beach, Florida… I work 2 jobs, a 1st grade teacher and a youth counselor for teens. Im 27 and I truly am the star next door in my city. I have been featured in my cities newspaper “The Palm Beach Post” For my achievements as a singer and 2 time “Teacher of the year” winner. I dream every night when I get to my 1 bedroom apartment of being an entertainer and a Hero for my hometown to show them that dreams are achievable!

  70. Brandon Gray

Keep me posted I would love to be apart of this show! It would be a dream come true for me.

  71. Viviana Gallo

  72. Justin Phillip

  73. Tae Phoenix

I’m a classically trained singer / songwriter and pianist with a three-octave range and a lot of stage presence. I hail from Seattle, WA – where there’s nothing to do for the nine rainy months of the year but go to indoor venues and listen to tons of great live music. There are some seriously great acts in this town: and I’m one of them.

I would love the opportunity to learn from Gloria Estefan, John Rich and anyone else that Queen Latifah thinks should mentor up-and-coming musicians. So come up to the rainy city and check me out. I’ll buy you a latte, introduce you to other quality musicians (Whitney Monge anyone?), and show you to the best view in the city (hint: it’s not the Space Needle) .

  74. Misty Becker

This show is for me! I am the star next door.
I’m a 36 year old, single Mom. I’m a Sales Director by day and I sing in a band at night and on the weekends. Music is just as much a part of my life as the other stuff I have to do to support my family.
My 9 year old son likes to tell people… “My Mom is a rock star!” and I think I am!

  75. Danielle
