  1. Gugu Gumede

    Greetings to Opening Act.

My name is Nomagugu Gumede but you can refer to me as Gugu. The creation of Opening Act itself puts emphasis that I’m exactly what you need. I’m a 20year old South African who is a Vocalist / Songwriter / Stage actress. I’m currently studying a Bachelors Degree in Music and Drama and Performance studies. I have been singing from a young age and began writing my own songs at the age of 12. My genre is RnB and Pop, my songs are catchy, fun and can relate to all ages, male and female. I am music! This would mean so much to me, coming from a background where people do not take the music industry seriously fearing disapointment. I could finally prove to my community that anything is possible, near or far. This is my dream to be finally recognized for my talent. I have no doubt that you will be impressed! Allow me to amaze you. “Whether you think you can or can’t either way you right” – Henry Ford…. I know I can be your next big thing!

They write and produce all their own material and are destined to blow up and become a major force to be reckoned with. This would be an amazing and unexpected find for your show. Everyone is amazed that this type of sound could come out of Nigeria. Talented, dedicated to their craft. Great live and ready for prime time. Just let me know when we should get on a plane! Hello,
My name is Emily Hogan. I have a fabulous husband and son. They both are pulling for my success. I have passion for music and singing. I started singing when I was four years old. By the time I was eight, Modonna was my idol. I loved her style and love for music. She was no stranger to poverty and struggle, but still she made something of herself. I started taking voice lessons two years ago. I have been performing at local restraunts and coffee houses all over Lexington. A few of my performances are on You Tube. My family and I are not rich, we live in a small house, in a small town. I love my life and my family. I don’t have to be famous to feel successfull. My husband and I have been married for fifteen years. We have the most woderfull ten year old son. We have already achieved a lot. I want to show my son that you can do anything you set your mind to do. If you love something or someone with passion and heart, no matter what anyone else says, you have already won. If you decide not to pick me than that is okay. I will still get up everyday and have passion for the work that I do. If you do pick me, you should know that I will put all of my passion and heart into it. I appreciate the time you took to read this comment. Have a blessed day.

  63. Kailyn Paris

My band Chasing Paris should be considered for Opening Act because we are passionate about music and we just love it. My sister Kindyl Paris who is 16 and I, Kailyn Paris, who is 18 write and perform our own songs. We write about our real life experiences with love, relationships, and break ups. I play guitar and sing while Kindyl harmonizes to create such a unique sound. We are an acoustic singer/songwriter group. We have played at House of Blues, local coffee shops, local high schools, and local churches. We would love the opportunity to show the world what we are capable of doing.

I’m not going to waste a bunch of time telling you how I’ve been singing since I could speak and that this has been my dream since I could remember (which I’m sure most of the emails you read say). and plus, If I did, I’d be lying. This isn’t something I’ve wanted my whole life or have wanted to achieve. Instead, it came as more of a promise to a special someone in my life. A promise to expand myself and to advance towards something as far as I could.

This summer, I decided to dive outside my box and enter a local singing competition, Bootleggers “Lake Idol.” Now, let me mention, I’ve never sung outside my bathroom or vehicle. But that’s besides the point, what I’m trying to say is that this competition showed me what I have and what I could become. It made me want to follow a new path and chase things I could have never imagined doing..

Thank you for taking the time to read my ramble.

Dear opening act im a 13 years old girl my dream is singing i hope one day it could come true

  71. Christopher Jones

I am a 26 year old singer, currently working as the bass section leader for a church choir at a quaker church in whittier. My voice type is a bass baritone and I’ve been classically trained for around ten years. I started taking voice lessons when I was a sophmore in high school, mainly because of my Drama teacher wanting all of her students to learn good vocal technique for our musical theater productions. But, once I started taking lessons I realized how much I enjoyed singing, how passionate I was about it, and how I wanted it to be my career. From then on, I sang and performed as much as I could, from singing in high school choir and doing musical theater all four years, to singing in my voice teacher’s opera company and doing vocal competitions. After high school, I majored in music, started at Pasadena City College, then transferred to cal state fullerton where I got my ba degree in music. I took voice lessons, joined the men’s chorus, jazz choir and concert choir, as well as the opera theater program, which would be a little much for the normal student, but since I loved to sing and perform so much, I had to do it all, any and every opportunity that I could get my hands on. On top of that, I helped out my peers by singing in their student recitals whenever they needed an extra person, because I’ve always been someone who helps out his friends whenever they needed it, no matter how busy my schedule was, I would always find a way to fit it in. One of the main reasons I’ve always liked performing is because I like to make people feel good, see them simile and have a good time watching me perform. Also, to be able to get them involved in my performance, make them feel like they are a part of the song, makes me feel good, that I was able to pull them into the story of the piece, move them with the words, that’s what I love to do.

My ultimate career goal, really is a mix of different things. The goal for me is to be a recording artist, music producer, and even record my own music. Later on down the line and want to have my own recording studio where I can record for my friends, other people, and myself. I’ve started getting into songwriting and would like to get better, collaborate with people and grow in that area. The style of music would probably be centered around classical, since that’s where my training comes from, but I know I want to tell stories with my music, which I feel comes out in my lyric writing, writing about what i’m feeling, thinking, what i’m going through. It’s almost like mixing josh groban with james taylor, if that makes sense haha. You have the classical side with josh groban, and the story telling side with james taylor, that’s how I see it, all that together would be my style of music. Besides a recording artist, I’ve always enjoyed small group work, especially male/female duets, so I would love to have my own group or duo, along with doing solo work.

I know this seems like a lot, but I guess I just love performing so much, that I’ve always been the type of person who wants to do it all, I just love being on stage. Even before I learned how to talk, I was singing, always had a great ear for music, which people have always noticed in me. I’ve also had the ability, when a song would come on the radio that i’ve never heard before, I could sing with it like I already knew all the words. I take that to mean that I was born with the love for music, like I was blessed with something that I should share with the world. I’ve always been drawn to the stage, whether it was choir, drama, opera, solos, it didn’t matter, I wanted to do it. When I saw someone like josh groban performing on tv, or heard artists on the radio, heard about artists going on tours, I wanted to be just like that, I wanted to do that. I think that’s why I would go on auditions for the voice to see if that would help me break out into the music industry, to try and get my big break that I’ve wanted for so long, anything that called for singing, whether it was for the barbershop quartet at Disneyland, to the voice, to a caroling company, opera company, karaoke company, anything that would help get me noticed, I would do it.

Right now, I’ve been trying to look for working, any kind of paying work to help me get enough income so that I could eventually move out of my mom’s house, into my own place and be the self-sufficient, independent man that I have wanted to be. The job market has definitely not been easy lately, but I’ve been trying to keep busy and keep looking. Of course, my goal is to one day be able to say that I am a full-time singer, full-time artist, doing what I love, all day, every day. It would be easy to quit and just throw in the towel and decide on a different career path, but I can’t do that, there is anything I rather do then perform on stage, make music, sing for the world, for my family, for my friends, give back to everyone who has supported me. My dream is be successful enough to be able to give back to my mom who has done everything for, gone above and beyond to support my dreams.

I am hoping and praying that Opening Act is the answer for me to finally realize my dreams of break into the music business. I would feel so blessed and privileged and honored to be given a chance to be on this show, and be able to learn and grow as an artist. Singing means so much to me, I really want this to work, I want to get somewhere with this, I definitely need the help to get there. I hope this show will help me with that.

I am submitting on behalf of my son so as to use my name and not his, as of yet. But in his words…” I am young man who just turned 15 in August. Singing is my passion of life, yes, but it is also my purpose. The real purpose behind my goal is to heal the world with my music. The real purpose is that I am an “almost out” gay young man (the most important and supportive people in my life know) and I feel others like me NEED a positive role model by which they can look to to help them keep going. Too many young LGBT kids are killing themselves and suffering. There are awesome adult role models, but kids can’t always think that far. They may feel they can’t “make it” until adulthood. I am a clean, happy positive person…I look just like the kid next door. I’m not flamboyant and I don’t wear eyeliner or any of the other “unevolved” things people stigmatize gay boys as being. I could be like a gay Justin Beiber, if you will. I of course am attracted to the life, but it isn’t about me being “famous”, it is just that in order for me to be able to help in the way that help is needed is on a Large scale so everyone can see it and learn from it. I am ready for this role. I am meant for it. I have written over 250 songs and I’m a beats composer and teaching myself to play the piano. I am now writing sheet music to go along with my song lyrics. My work fills me with joy. I understand energy and vibrations and I have awesome plans for how I will help to heal the world through my actions and through the power of vibration within music. The world is shifting and I am ready to do my part to help it do so in a more soothed fashion. This is just the tip of the iceburg of what I want to do. Thanks so much for considering me. I would not let you down!!

Aaron Blumer is an amazing country singer from Saint Joseph, MO that is just looking for that break in living his dream. He has played the guitar since the age of 12 and has had the dream to entertain ever since. Now at 25 he has released an album that’s self titled and lost on where to go from there. Opening Act would be a great opportunity for him to get his name out there and live his dream. You can find him on youtube where he has many covers and original songs.
