I had given up on my dream of singing spending nearly 2 decades in the insurance industry until I lost my job. Then, out of shear despration for money I started entering local singing contests to win cash. It was then I remembered my first true love … music. I was encouraged after I consistently won or made the finals in every contest I entered … and I always the ONLY person over 40 is a sea of 20 somethings. Those who know a little about thier musical history began to call me Teena Marie, LOL, and I consider that an awesome compliment. I am not so sure that I really sound like her but heck, I will take it! Why not give an old lady a chance? I haven’t lost a note and America always love to root for an underdog. I love the mentoring aspect and I love that contestants have the amazing opportunity to perform with such incredible artists. I grew up singing but it has not been a part of my life for a long time. I am 30 years old and I am a hospice social worker. I love what I do and I believe in what I’m doing with all my heart. But i miss having a creative outlet in my life and I have decided that one way or another, singing needs to become a big part of my life again.I was truly moved by every episode of this show last season. I loved that viewers were able to see so much of the processes that the contestants worked through with the mentors/superstars. I thought the show was incredibly classy and it was neat to be able to get to know the superstars on more personal levels through the show as a viewer. It looked like such an incredible opportunity and all of a sudden it just has me thinking…why not me this time??I would love to be able to sing with ANY of these incredible artists, but I am especially inspired by Jennifer Nettles. I think she has an amazing voice and seems to have such a beautiful heart; as a young woman I really look up to her. Qiana McNaryI NEED music. While most people can say they enjoy, and even love music, for me it’s more than that. I can’t survive without it. I eat, sleep, and breathe music. I hear music 24/7 and feel as if I have my very own leitmotif that follows me everywhere I go. I want it to be known that I am classically trained. Studying music sparked from my acceptance into college. My original plan was to attend medical school, find the cure for AIDS, and be able to support a shoe buying habit I picked up along the way. Music had a different option for my life. While I recognize my voice is a gift, I never experienced training until college. Upon my acceptance into a musical degree program, I was afforded the opportunity to become a musical threat to all the artists in the world. Not only did I have raw talent and a deep passion to pursue a dream, I gained the knowledge and training to care for my voice and help it reach its highest potential. While my voice has been received well abroad as well as locally in the theater, and various music venues, it’s not enough for me. Many critics have likened my voice to Whitney Houston, Jill Scott, and my favorite Leontyne Price. And while this is true in that it holds the strength, soulfulness, and classical precision of each of these women, my voice is unique and deserves to be heard. I know I have a purpose for my voice and I know it was meant to be heard by everyone around the world. Thaddeus JohnsonGrowing up in a single parent home with my mother and my three sisters, the only way that i could express my self was through my singing. I realized that God had blessed me with a voice at the age of six, and discovering it was the best thing that ever happened to me. It was the only outlet to my emotions growing up in a house full of women. Music has become me. I know that if giving the opportunity to share my gift, the world wouldn’t be disappointed. I would love the opportunity to sing with a seasoned professional and just enjoy the love of singing. I am an older seasoned singer who has committed myself to the raising of my children while teaching voice lessons for many years. I’ve have managed to keep my chops in good condition in hopes that someday I could make a diffierence in someone’s life while using my voice to send a message that anyone can do it no matter what their age, if they stay faithful to the task and don”t give up. My resume is not extemely impressive but I have consistently sung in musicals, fundraisers, basketbal and football games singing the national anthem. as well as a few recordings along the way. My educational background is classical but my experience is in various styles ranging from country to music theatre belt. Two years ago on September 19 my worst nightmare came true and i lost my mom to cancer. I’ve never been so low in my life!! Chelsea RaeI’m Chelsea I’m a 22 year old singer/songwriter originally from Oregon. I’ve spent the past four years in Nashville,TN working up to three jobs at a time. I’ve been everything from a waitress to a knife sales girl (Nope not crazy, but I know it’s weird haha!) In my “down time,” I’m constantly songwriting and and playing writers nights and anywhere else I can grab a stage. When I got to town I was eighteen years old with a few pennies in my pocket and a dream. I didn’t have a car, job or even a bed to call my own. I quickly put my nose to grind stone and began co-writing in town while attending college at the infamous Belmont University. After two years I decided to pursue only music full time. Throughout my time in town I’ve released two fan funded independent albums and currently, I’m writing for my next project. The constant nine to five grind is exhausting and hard to balance with the pursuit of my music. This opportunity would mean the world to me and would not be taken for granted in the slightest. The invaluable mentor ship and experience this show offers would be such an incredible blessing. I have no back up plan this is my dream! Greg KnightAfter watching this year’s show, and feeling the goosebumps that music just naturally brings to a person, I feel like I would LOVE to be a part of the second season of this show.Watching John Glosson and Jennifer Nettles, and those host of other talented stars really amped me up to get out there and show the world what I’ve got.I like this show because it displays musical talent from all walks of life. Other shows tend to be looking for the next big pop star and they lose focus on what brought everyone to the table in the first place.. Sarah Tiffany DeMersAs the daughter of a muscian, watching the struggles of trying to live a dream while meeting the standards of a strong provider has been heart breaking. My father is one of the most talented guitar players I have ever heard. After 60 years of sticking to his passion, normalcy has finally taken over and he now drives a truck in North Dakota and I’ve only seen him 2 times this year. As a lover of music myself, the temptation to think there’s no chance for me weighs heavy. But I’m convinced I will not be satisdfied if my life lacks the singing and performing I long for. I am 19, in college and I work at a restaraunt. Mediocre is just not an option anymore. When I first saw this show my hope was sparked. I’ve always been interested in auditioning for a talent show but I thrive on performing with a partner. I would much rather create beautiful harmonies with someone than sing by myself. The magic that can happen between two singers blending together is out of this world. I would absolutely love to participate in “duets” not only to live my dream but to redeem those of my familes dreams as well. My audience nowadays consists of my church family,my youtube subscribers, and strangers who catch me at an inspirational moment. LayceHello my name is Alaycia, but my nickname is Layce. Singing has been apart of my life since I first sang in my church choir at the age of 6. I remember watching even younger than that and saying that I’m going to direct that choir one day, and at the age of 33, I’ve been directing & singing since the age of 7. Singing is something that makes sense to me. It”s like eating or breathing…I have to do it! Though I’ve sung in the church, won a few competitions and get compliments, it’s no where near what I would receive and experience from singing with these great artists. My life hasn’t been very easy…reason? I have a 7 year old disabled son that needs constant care. Giving him the best life possible and showing him that even with a set back, you can do or be WHATEVER you want. I’ve written songs and sing them to him first 🙂 He’s blind, so music connect us. My passion comes from hardship, people doubting me, love of music, and the chance to show MYSELF that I have what it takes to sing outside of the 4 walls of the church. I do hope you consider me!
