I know every word in the movie and will watch it just as much now as I did back then. Acting has always been a part of me. From playing in school plays to singing in show choir and chorus. Over these recent years of my life I have gained acceptance with my self. Growing up I was an introvert and extremely shy, most likely a consequence of various experiences as a child; and with these barriers I found myself not being accepted to the majority. It was not until now that I realized with vivid consciousness that It was not just others that did not accept me , but I was just as guilty. I never thought I was good enough, pretty enough, smart enough, or funny enough, therefore, I was not. Being a member of my college volleyball team and eventually become a leader and keeper to these young women, I found part of myself. As a leader I had to display strength, temperance, confidence , and eloquence . To constantly know your being watched as a poster of behavior to follow I had to make myself believe I was everything I mentioned I never thought I was. So I pretended to be confident, pretty, and smart and I gave speeches like I was the greatest orator there was. Then one day , before my college graduation I started to consider the things that I had accomplished so far. I participated in a play where I earned the lead role, I was just days away from becoming the first to graduate in my family with a bachelors from a university, and the most gratifying, I received a text message from one of my younger teammates expressing her admiration for everything I be ever done and said. Without knowing I had become everything thing I always was I had to pretend to be it to believe it and then believe it so much that I portrayed it in everything I did . Unwittingly, I declared who I wanted to be and through my journey I the found the beauty within me. I want to be a role model for women to find the beauty within them to break down those barriers that say otherwise, even when it is themselves, because only you can declare who you want to be.
