It’s a recent love, here’s what happened… I have loved performing since I started dance when I was 8. I am an avid dancer in all genres as well as a soprano 1 singer. I am very fit and active! (Despite what my body shots might portray. 🙂 A few years ago my dance company started these “Productions” where we told stories through multi media and dance. Our recent productions have required vocal acting for me. The first being that I had to simply cry for about 2 minutes. Lately, my dance instructor has had me in big roles in our productions. Such as Betsie ten Boom for our production of “The Hiding Place”. In this role I had to scream, be beaten and tortured and…die.My dance company, as well as members of the “Camp Broadway” in Jacksonville have told me that I portray innocence, joy, sadness, anger, sarcasm, and terror very well…These productions have stirred up this new desire to act. I have always used my emotions and expression but now I want to do more. I honestly wouldn’t care what I would do in “Mocking Jay”, if I were cast, as long as I did something! Just being a part of it would be a joy to me! This trilogy of books are the only books I have ever read, willingly, and loved! Also, it would be a good experience for me. KatrinaI am not quite sure why I am posting this, maybe it’s because like the rest of the commenters I find some comfort that someone could read this and think “Hey! This is the person I’m looking for!” but I am aware that nothing truly does come of it. Unfortunately I live in England and there is no possibility for me to land a role in a highly anticipated film, especially one that is in the States. But like the rest of us it would be wonderful to be in Mockingjay, to be in one of your favourite books…and the chance of grasping it. It’s not everyday that there is the slight chance of being cast in something you adore. It has always been a dream to act. My number one desire, ever since I was young. I am definitely not the most confident of people – terribly shy – and I am aware that it is out of reach for me. However it’s something I so desperately want, to be an actress. To show everyone I can do it, I see so many people taking up opportunities to get their dream job, people I’ve schooled with and I just think why I’m not going for it. I’m not giving up on the dream, no one should. Be the Mockingjay and show the others to follow. Oh God, I sound as if I’m giving a speech. Ali MogensenHi there, my name is Ali and I’m 18 years old. Since I could remember I’ve always had a passion for entertaining the people around me. I would do just about anything to make people laugh (even if I look like an idiot). I’ve always had this big dream to become an actress. I’ve never had an acting class, never been in any plays, and haven’t even had an audition. For a film like this, there probably isn’t any want for someone so inexperienced (and I don’t blame you), but I thought I’d comment anyway. When I read the books I thought that they were truly incredible, it’s the kind of story that you can get lost in and forget what’s going on around you. Every time that I re-read the series I find more details and passion and become lost once again. I hadn’t really thought about acting in this trilogy– I was beginning to give up on my dream–until I saw this post and remembered Delly Cartwright. I don’t know if she’s already been cast or if she will be in the film. What I do know is that I connected with her character. She’s unnoticed but still so caring and affectionate towards others. It becomes her mission to uphold Katniss’s reputation with Peeta. I think that anyone would be lucky to have someone like Delly to defend them. I think that in a way Delly is a lot like Peeta, and because of that she was able to help bring him back. I think that I’m asking way too much to want to be in a movie this big for my first time acting ever. But no matter how crazy it sounds, I want to try even more. I know that everyone says to start small with student and indie films but I can’t afford right now not to be paid (not that those don’t pay) but it’s hard to find work that will pay enough where I live. I’d love it if I could afford to be in a movie for experience alone but I just can’t. If don’t start acting soon I will probably have to get another job. For a few years I had kind of given up on my dreams. I put acting on the back burner and tried to attend college–I made it through one five week course and began to believe more and more every day that acting is what I have to do. To me, it’s so much more than a dream– It’s like gravitational pull– I just have to. If you asked me why I want to act I couldn’t tell you why other than that I just need to. In the book “Audition” written by Michael Shurtleff,(amazing book, very helpful) he says that saying you want to become an actor is like admitting that you’re crazy. I think that this is kind of true because not many people have taken me seriously when I told them what I want to do with my life. I believe that it doesn’t matter if I come from the middle of nowhere in northern Wisconsin. All that matters is that I’m determined to live my life the way I want by entertaining others. I don’t have any acting experience such as doing acting lesson or a play, but my way of practices is portraying somebody else attitude, actions, and emotions at like a grocery store or a mall any place where there is a lot of people and I can try to read their body language to see if I can copy there mood. Another practice I liked to do is dance I feel that dance is another way of acting because you have to transfer feeling into a dance without words and they way to do that I have to add facials of the feeling that I am trying to show, and my another method is I will try to copy a actor or actress feelings from a movie or a show and try to improve or show the same feeling in the mirror and keep on trying until it is believable then I will try them to friends to see if they believe so I basically give myself a test. From those practices I feel like I am capable to go for a real audition I will absolutely love to bring my dreams into reality. I am a huge fan of The Hunger Games, and feel that I bring not only the words and characters to life, but add bits and pieces of who I am to the persona. I really would love the experience of being on one of the best movies and being apart of this amazing cast. This series is amazing and i love the physical aspect. If given the chance, im more than sure i can pull anything off with the right amount of patience. The ONLY experience i have were plays in the past, as well as playing alternate scary characters at a theme park for a couple years for Halloween (pirate, vampire, slave, clown, doll, bear, zombie, etc). I have no professional acting skills but i have strong work ethic and learns quickly.
