James YanickHello, My name is James, and I love the show! Everyone is really talented, and I aspire to achieve the type of social acceptance my heroes Zendaya and Bella Thorne have. Honestly, I don’t think I deserve this opportunity; I feel like there’s nothing special about me, I don’t have many friends, I have no talents, and not many people like me very much. All my life I’ve just wanted to fit in, but I’m no good at sports and I’m just a mediocre student. The only thing I truly love is writing. My writing allows me to break free from the expectations set by society, and explore my own world. I thought I was a good writer, but every time I show one of my stories to my parents, I receive nothing but vitriolic, hurtful, and ultimately discouraging feedback. It seems like the things I find special about myself just leave any audience yawning. I’m still searching for my “something special”, and though I doubt that thing is acting, all I really want is an opportunity: An opportunity to succeed, prosper, and be happy. I am in show choir (for 2 years), choir (since I was 5), the school play/musical Once Upon a Mattress (I played the Jester this year), the school play/musical Little Shop of Horrors (last year I played a backup singer/dancer), I played the lead/narrator in ALL of my elementary school plays/musicals, I have been playing guitar since last year (I play acoustic), I sang solo in my 5th grade talent show (last year I had a TERRIBLE cold!!!), I did a skit with my friends for a theatre camp (during the summer), and I’m in 7th grade as a 12 going on 13 year old girl! Singing and acting is my life and I wouldn’t give it up for the world. It’s my dream to become a singer/actress but I don’t look at it as a dream, I look at it as my future. This is what I want to do, and I’m going to do whatever it takes to get to me destination, no matter how much effort, and time I use. <3 0 Reply February 3, 2013
