Music is the one thing that when all else fails I can grab my guitar and pour my soul into what I feel and all the sudden im in my own world, especially on stage or in front of a crowd. I recently started playing at the local bar and grill that opened up in the next town. Lastly my musical influence from family alone is huge, my father had me listening to classic county (ernest tubb, hank sr. ) then would turn me to some hair bands or rockabilly. Then on my mothers side zydeco music, blues, and some jazz. Music is my life and so many people have been pushing me to do new songs (even rap) and want me to find that break. I tried American Idol and many people where very dissapointed at what one of the judges told me in the OKC auditions. Saj Ryanmy name is saj, (pronounced sage), I am 17 years old and going into my senior year in high school.I have been singing in choir for three years, but before that I thought that I didn’t belong. I’ve been bullied ever since I first stepped foot into a school. My mother always told me that I was a young beautiful girl, but all my classmates would tell me that I was ugly, stupid, and that I didn’t fit in. Sometimes it would get so bad, that they would start pushing me and threatening me. I tried my best to ignore them and would sit in the back of class- not talking to anyone. I wouldn’t even try to make new friends for fear that they wouldn’t accept me for who I am and judge me by how I look. I may not be the prettiest girl or have a perfect nose or face, but in my freshman year I discovered that I could sing. Singing and music is my escape. It makes me forget about what people say. I can be myself when I sing and I can get all those emotions out that I kept trapped inside of me. I love singing and it would mean the world to me, to be able to get out there and show the ones that bullied me that I’m not quitting just because they pushed me down. I want others that go through the same things as me or have went through these kind of things, to know that they’re not alone and they don’t have to listen to what bullies say.My mom has always supported me, guided me, and helped me back up. How could I possibly quit when she has done so much for me? Even though my dad is hardly involved in my life and makes everything about him, my mom is the one that tells me I can do it. My dad makes me feel like I can’t do things. He always has something bad to say about what I want to do, he acts like a child, and thinks that my sister and I are his nerdy friends that he can just pick on any time he wants. As we were set sail to build everything needed to release a record with Pharrell, I battled with depression and was hospitalized for 2 weeks. jana henryHi, I see others have written in re:someone else so I am writing in re: my brother, Gary Severns. We are in Las Vegas, Nv. I recently entered Gary in a talent contest at a large casino. He went all the way through to the finals but did not win. He was asked to do a spot at another casino variety show. Everyone loved him and was very impressed. One judge told him h should quit his day job, ( he is a painter).I always tell Gary he sounds better then original artists without a mixer board lol. I’ve put a few videos on youtube. Check him out. Callie YoungHI!!!! 🙂I just turned 13 and am FEARLESS!!! I want nothing else more on this planet than to pursue my passion to perform as a musician relentlessly!! My passion and determination run deep through my veins!! I have known this since I was a little girl, (well littler, lol). I feel I am beyond and have been told a time or two I am beyond my years with my writing capability, poetry, short stories and of course song lyrics of my original songs. My english teacher is kind of obsessed with me for that reason 😉 ..I have won poetry and short story contests and love to feed my brain with the intellect of reading! My very first live performance ever with no prior experience or training was for the AZ Diamondbacks for 32,000 fans televised at age 11. I then competed in several local Idol competitions and placed in finals among experienced adult competestants and most definately held my own, judges made several comments that I had that “it factor” , “star quality”, and was the full package! I have also sang the National Anthem at spring training games, local college games and sporting events. I perform around the valley with an organization called Chicks With Picks, a very rewarding opportunity to sing for the children at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and local child crisis shelters. I performed as Cynthia Benson in the theater production of Tom Hanks movie Big and also in High School Musical. I recently took 2nd place in Hot Pipes competition and sang for Tunes for Tots charity event. I will be performing as a princess in an upcoming festival this summer. I also host my own music radio show Indie Girls on voiceamericakids,com! My biggest role musician role model is Taylor Swift, for many obvious reasons, the main one is she didn’t focus on this industry for the fame but for the success frame of mind as she has spoken about, and I have the same frame of mind going into this musical journey. My hugest role model and super hero is my mom. She has raised me as a single mom since I was born and despite all her struggles she has had to endure she remains strong, and thrives on loving life even though the tough times. She is the most brave person I know and the most loving person you could meet. She does all she can to encourage my dreams to jump for the stars but also have my feet planted firmly on the ground. I want to inspire and impact the world with my music. And I will!! I have grown up doing theater, choir, and dance. Harmony CasondraWell, singing has always been my life… since I was a child. According to my mom, at age 2 – I was singing opera into an ice cream cone!! (haha) I have performed in church, in clubs, in …the shower (hahaha). I’ve been in a few contests- won some.. lost some< :/. I write lyrics, and play keyboard (or at least I try to). I can sing just about any kind of music (even opera, though I wouldn't suggest requesting it, as It's been about 32 years since I've tried! lol). Oh, and I CANNOT yodel o.O. I'm a fighter, and I am not ready to give up on my dream of singing, though I am sure my competition would love for me to. 😉 I am a Cancer Survivor, and a Lupus Warrior! Life keeps trying to knock me down, but it ain't over til the 'curvaceous' lady sings (ahem, that would be me.) I'm 34 years old, I have a wonderful girlfriend whom I love to pieces, and a cat(my son) whom I love even more (shhh…lol). I would love the opportunity to be a part of this show! MarisaI’m not really sure if this is still going on but hi I’m Marisa and I am 19 years old. I found out that I loved to perform when I would take my Barbie karaoke with me to my backyard at a family party and perform randomly around the age of 7. I’ve gotten the confidence to pursue my singing from (surprisingly) tons of people who know of a blog that I run. I’m pretty well known on Tumblr (with over 24,000 followers) and I get messages on a daily basis to do something about my singing. I grew up around music, I have two uncles (one from each side of my family) who are musicians. I learned to play the guitar at the age of 14. I remember when I was about 12, kids would always make fun of me and insult me about my singing. I stopped singing for almost year and gave up. Now I’m more confident than I was, though I’m not fully confident in myself because I do get insecure, I’m definitely way better. If I had known then what I know now, I would’ve never quit singing and I would have never wasted my time listening to others opinions and insults.
