When I was a child, about 6 years of age, I would cut up my mothers’ bed sheets and make clothing for my Barbie dolls. I want this more than anything in life, and I have postponed many things in life, one being having children or any serious relationships because I wanted no distractions while chasing my dreams. Once I enrolled in Design School, I remained focused, even during tragedies in my life. I always challenged myself, in-order to push myself. I would stay up all night, and the majority of my life while in school was spent in the seeing lab to ensure my work was done to meet deadlines. The hardwork payed off because I graduated Suma Cum Laude, and finished my degree with a 3.97 gpa. I took an internship with Sam The Tailor at the prestigious Somerset Mall in Oakland County Michigan, where I learned tailoring skills. I don’t have a plan B in life, plan A has to work, and that plan is Fashion. This is my dream, my passion and becoming a designer on Fashion Star will help me reach my dreams and goals. Yes Fashion is what I love without a doubt and I want to be known by many but its not all about the money. I want this so I can give back to the less fortunate, and build safe havens for trouble youth and battered women and children. This will help me feed the homeless more often then I do. Myleen TrevinoFashion has been apart of my life since the day I was born. My Mom and Dad actually modeled for a Modeling Agency, and when I was five years old I would attend their fashion runway shows, and watch them walk the runway. Fashion progressed from there because my Mother entered me in baby pageants, TV commercials, and would take me to her hair salon. During my school years, I would invite my girlfriends over to my house so that I could dress them up, and do their hair/make-up. In my last year of high school I got my first job in retail at Guess Co. From there I went on to attend The Art Institute of Houston for fashion Merchandising and retail management, as well at The Art Institute of Dallas for fashion design. I have worked several fashion runway shows as a backstage dresser, for Saks Fifth Ave, Houston Fashion Week, and designers such as Fendi. I have even designed my own clothing line with a friend Laura Berry, where we had a fashion show at Club “Red” in Tx. I currently have been a free lance wardrobe stylist, styling people such as Hannah Jones (Americas Next Top Model), Donny Boatwright (winner of TV show “Survivor”), and Jason Witten (Dallas Cowboys Player)=) My goal is to one day own my own store/boutique, carry my own clothing line, as well as other designers, and show and share to the world my talents in fashion. 0 Reply April 15, 2013
Kate HollomanMy name is Kate Holloman, I am 24, and come from the Czech republic. I have lived in the US for 2,5 years. My husband and I, with our 4mo baby boy, are heading to the CZ as missionaries in the next year. I got a degree in fashion design while i still lived in the CZ, but never got a chance to go further as there is very little market for unique designers. I still design clothes, love high end, prom and wedding fashion as wel asmcasual – jeans are one of my favorites to design. But currently i don’t even own a sewing machine and haven’t had a chance to perfect my sewing skills. I would love a chance to put my fashion vision out here and make my folks, people who mentored and taught me proud, and show all other aspiring artists and designers, that everyone has a chance! I have designed over 650 fashions throughout the years. I’ve even had a professor who has a Master’s in Arts tell me they are phenomenal. I will receive a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Utah State University in May of 2013. I’m afraid to show the designs to anyone, and don’t know where to go from here. RebeccaI currently work in entertainment marketing and PR and have always had an interest in fashion, design and styling. I have had my hand at last minute styling clients for red carpet events and photo shoots only as a bonus to my job. I forever have wanted to switch my focus to fashion but haven’t.
