Anthony "AJ" MoncmanAs a parent I believe we all hope that our child is talented and gifted in some way, and I must say I was just like those other parents. However, after my son AJ was born I knew something was wrong at 6 weeks old and when he was 3 months old we were told he was totally blind with no hopes of a cure or treatment, but he could lead a normal life with his other 4 senses. Of course our hopes and dreams of him growing up to be a talented and gifted seemed so far away. How were we going to rise a blind child? We had lived in our community for 35 years and I had never seen a blind child walking the streets, competing in sports or playing an instrument. Our devastation and sadness quickly turned, and our main focus went to how are we going to make sure that our son has as “normal” a life as possible. I knew at a young AJ my son was smart and his hearing is impeccable. He knew all his states and capitals at 3. At age 1 he was talking in full sentences and his vocabulary and ability to relate to adults at such a young age was amazing. At age 5 I found an incredible drum teacher and now five years later and at the age of 10 I truly believe my son is gifted and talented. He is not able to read music so everything he learns to play is by ear. You can google him on YouTube, “AJ MONCMAN drum concert at Liberty High School. AJ believes that he can do anything he sets his mind to, he swims on a swim team, wrestles, plays golf, loves his video games but most of all he has an incredible personality and is never afraid to accept his blindness and make fun of himself at times. As I said I truly believe my son is talented and gifted and not because of all the things he has done and will continue to accomplish but because he has taught my husband, our daughter and myself to be better people everyday and to accept people the way they are. As he once told us, “Mommy I don’t know if I would ever want to see because I see the world perfect.” One last funny thing, a couple years ago my son nominated his Braille teacher for teacher of the year. His teacher was selected and we went to the Phillies game where he gave Ryan Howard before the game one of his braille bracelets and told him to hit a home run for him. His first up to bat he hit a home run while wearing that bracelet. We looked at each other and laughed. They did a story on AJ and that moment and showed it on ESPN. Ellen DeGeneres tweeted about it the next day. If I wasn’t so technology illiterate I would have tweeted back. All kids are talented and gifted in some way; however, I believe how they choose to use their gift is the real talent. I hope one day the world will get to meet my hero and the person who makes me a better person everyday. I have no doubt that if given the chance to meet him your life will be changed for ever, and the way that you look at the world. Tye has been taking lessons from a place that, every month, has a performance on stage at different venues. The adults in the back of the room push to the front to see the skinny, sweet-faced boy ripping it up- he is a natural born musical wonder. Without the attitude. Cameron SoulierFor as long as I can remember, singing, acting, and songwriting have been a lifesaving part of who I am. I am almost 16 years old, and have in the past struggled with depression, anxiety, and suicide; however, making music and getting up on stage has given me a purpose I life. I now have decided to dedicate my life to the arts of songwriting and acting, helping as many people with my music as possible who struggle with what I went through. jadynHi my daughters name is jadyn and she’s been a contortionist for a little over two years! She’s 7 yes old and she unbelievable! She is definitely a local celebrity in our hometown and surrounding cities. We’re from a very small town Dos Palos,ca. This past year my mother and sisters decided to open a dance studio just for her, since we’ve never had one in town. Our dance studio is called Darling Divas Dance Studio and its been such a blessing to our family and majority of our towns population. Recently my daughter gave my family and I a scare she was hospitalized for 17 days at Valley Children’s Hospital. In those two long weeks Jadyn realized how much dance is a part of her life and the day she was released from the hospital she did a suprise performance at our locxl pageant. I feel like where we live is a big set back for Jadyn and every other talented child to get noticed and this would be such a blessing! Lottie MI am a grandmother of a set of twins girls not identical and a grandson who is full of life. All the same age 6 years old. Not one of them shy and not sure of what talent they have but they have a lot of energy. Vincenzo BiscontiHello Ellen,I am submitting for my son, Vincenzo (Vinny). He is 8 years old and everyone loves him. He is very smart, educationally wise, as well as witty. Vinny is 100% Italian, has olive skin, a round face, and dark eyes. He totally looks like a teddy bear he is so adorable. Vinny also has a terrific personality, is quite funny and has the best facial expressions ever. He seems to be able to reason beyond his years and have been told he has an “old” soul. Vinny is very good in sports, can do splits and some very high karate kicks. We all watch the Steve Harvey show and Vinny thinks he is really funny. MariaHi there,I’m the proud mom of a 10 year old girl, who ever since before she could write was writing songs, putting together girl groups, and putting on acting pieces for herself, and with her friends. This show sounds very much something down her alley and, fun. My daughters experience stems from, Preschool where she had a solo song in Italian, to summers camping, and singing on the stage pop songs: like, All About That Base: Megan Trainor, and songs by Ke$ha, and other pop songs that have strong women themes to them w/meaning. Then, doing some acting classes with shows as: The Old Woman and, The Shoe: Footloose, Annie, Dog in the Park, and Doctor…Doctor. She also has taken dancing classes since she was 18 months old: she was the youngest in her class, but had no problem dancing she loved it! At, the moment she is taking Horseback Riding, Stunts & Tumbling, and playing the flute in band. She hopes to try out in November for your show, or whenever! Thanks so much!
