The E! Network along with Nigel Lythgoe, the producer of such mega popular shows as American Idol, So you Think You Can Dance and The Next Great American Band are preparing to bring what may be the most amazing musical competition show ever to television screens everywhere and you could be a part of it all. Opening Act is coming soon and so will auditions and casting calls for what could be your HUGE break in the music industry.
Opening Act is a music talent search show that is truly unlike any other the world has ever seen. The show will find Nigel Lythgoe and his team of Opening Act talent scouts searching the Internet for the most amazing up and coming bands and solo acts in the world. Those chosen will be brought to Los Angeles where they will be mentored by none other than singer-songwriter Mary J. Blige who has sold over 50 million albums worldwide and Antonia Armato, producer for such artists as Miley Cyrus, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Jesse McCartney and David Archuleta! The winner of the competition will land the dream gig as the Opening Act for a huge musical group. There has never been another program where undiscovered performers are given the opportunity to be mentored by and potentially open for talents as amazing as these. If you have been working in a band or as a solo performer and are looking to take the next huge step in your career you have found it right here. I am a song writer and female emcee living in Chicago. I have performed in New York,Chicago,California,Toronto, and all over the midwest. I started with an all guy rap group that consisted of 6 young men. I was like the little sister and we were a family.I went solo and moved from Chicago to Brooklyn and was inspired by the Afro Punk movement. I began to experiment with styles and found my true voice. I was unstoppable. I got a call from my daddy in Oklahoma one night. He was telling me he was having chest pains and the following morning he had a heart attack. He went into a coma and soon after passed away. He was my very best friend and soul mate/twin. He was my biggest supporter and pushed me to record and perform rregularly. I thought I would use music to cope with such a terrible loss, but I found that it was too hurtful to record songs my father would never hear. After years of working through those issues I have picked up the microphone again. I WILL MAKE IT. I won’t give up. I will fight everyday to make my dream come true.

My name is Sarina Tate also known as the MuziqSongStress. I am 19 years old and I am from Colonial Beach, VA. Every since I can remember I have always had a passion for sining. I first started singing in church on the childrens choir at the age of 3. Growing up I would always hear my mother sining, and it was something about her voice that caused my passion for singing to grow stronger. I can remember times that I would sit and go through her CD collection for hours and listen to all the genre’s of music she had, and would sing along with the music. As I got older, I learned to appreciate music more for the way it made me feel, and how powerful the feeling was an how music seemed to help me understand different things in life more. They have been doing music for many Yrs and are very good at what they do. They are Currently opening for Jada, Stylez P, and the Locks, as well as a few others. They have met every Challenge they have faced with a positive attitude. I don’t know if you have ever heard of Elmira NY but there is nothing here in way of opportunity so We have had to reach way out of our area to try and make things happen. I can’t explain the power of music or the enrichments that my life has because of the people I have met on this path. But, I know this is what I where I am suppose to be. I am looking for that next step to help launch my career and I could really use your help! I work full time, dedicate my spare time to music and sleep rarely.
I volunteer to help at-risk youth by teaching music and theatre. I think I get more out of it than they do. I see first hand the transformations that happen through arts and this is something that I plan to continue as I advance myself. I’m submitting my son to be castes in “Opening Acts” for so many reasons, but most of all because of his heart. Cort was offered an opportunity to play professional baseball after college, and weeks before his opportunity, it was taken away from him because of a car accident. His back was injured enough to keep him off of the ball field and to never return fully capable. Cort was known for his unbelievable quick hands and power when hitting a baseball.
After Cort found out he wouldn’t be able to really capitalize on his professional baseball opportunities that had been presented to him, he struggled for a while, but because of his heart, he proceeded to follow another dream in the country music business. We had never heard him sing in his life as he refused in front of his dad and I. We heard him for the first time 3 years ago, and since that day, he has solely taken a country music dream into a reality. Cort has made a name for himself in those years and now is in Nashville packing out clubs, but still not getting that national exposure like this opportunity would present. Cort has the commercial look, voice, and stage presence of a seasoned professional. People leave his show in awe. It truly puts a tear on my face every time I watch my son perform because I know what potential opportunity he had in professional baseball, and now he has taken a dream that has been taken away for good, and turned it into something very very special in the country music business. If Cort had one opportunity to open for a national act, it would be enough to escalate him into the spotlight and be a serious up and comer contender in the country music world. He truly is the most humble, sweet loving guy you’d ever meet, and he has spent his entire life savings, and much of ours, trying to get his one chance. He works harder than anyone in the business I can guarantee it. He does all of his own bookings, phone calling, websites, social media, paying his band, funding of all his equipment, and gathering all sponsors he has. Just last year Cort held his own benefit concert for ‘Relay for Life’ cancer organization. He is at the perfect age, 26, and would with no doubt be the next new ‘Tim McGraw’ type artist in the business.
I’d never seen anyone work as hard as he has to get where he is today, and I know when be dream is taken away (His professional baseball career opportunity), another one is given. He has shed so many sad tears, we hope he can soon be shedding happy ones with this opportunity. Thank you for reading my submission. He truly would make your program proud.

After my professional baseball dreams were taken away by a car accident, I turned to country music, and since then, I’ve dedicated my life to getting my chance. I’ve been packing out clubs all over the USA, and now I am in Nashville fortunate enough to be doing the same. Although, without a major label behind you, your chances of getting to be an opening act are slim to none. We have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars getting my name out there, my CD cut, and video promotions. I’ve been playing for tips in Nashville as my full time job. Thousands and thousands of people believe in my chances, but I continue to be deflated by all of my hard work and grueling hours, and the right people not being around at the right time.
When people leave our show, they are taken back and wondering why we haven’t been discovered. I continue to pray for my opportunity to be an opening act for a major country act as I will continue to do whatever it takes to get there. Because so much of it is political or who you know, I’m just hoping for a chance that I know would be the opportunity that would change my life, forever. I hope the casting will check out my material, look, voice, and all of the rest. I know you won’t be let down, and it’d be something you’d never regret. Johnny Rockette has gained a large fanbase in the Chicago area, enough so that they are playing at the House of Blues Chicago.
