I would absolutely love to be a part of this production as both Mr. Perry and Ms. Winfrey are two of my idols and working with them would be an opportunity of a lifetime- a fact I emphasized in my email inquiring about having a role on “Love Thy Neighbor.” I am a very hard working individual and take my art very seriously, that being music and acting. After reading the plot for the scripted show, I’m even more eager to be a part of the cast not just because it is a Perry/Winfrey production but because it hits close to home. Being a classically trained cellist who attended the Juilliard School and won many national competitions, I had lots of close friends who came from family’s that were way more affluent than my own. While they studied with te best and most expensive teachers around, I was self-taught because my single mother of 3 could not afford such a luxury. Some of those very friends were supportive of my artistic endeavors and some were not- constantly I was told I accomplished one thing or another because of affirmative action, the color of my skin, or economic status. When I received a full merit-based scholarship to attend The Juilliard School I had many of those very friends tell me that I received it because I was on welfare or because I received free lunch at school. I am by no means one who plays “the victim” and while these comments did hurt me, they did not break me. Instead, later in life they lead me to do things I am not proud of to “keep up with the jones,'” if you will. After dropping out of Juilliard during my second year, I got into some trouble with the law and went to jail for 6 month. After getting out of jail and battling an addiction to alcohol I finally made the decision to live my life the honest way so that I may be proud of myself and my family could be as well. Today I am a young adult who recognizes the wonderful benefits of hard work and I cherish the gift I have been given to share with the world. Miranda ThibodeauHi, My name is Miranda Thibodeau and my dream is to become an actress. I have been in plays many times, but I do know that being in a movie or television series is very different. The reason I love acting is that when you are acting and you are playing a role, you are no longer you, you no longer have you life and past, you are the character you are playing, you have there life and past. You get to have a different like while acting, you get to be someone else, and there is almost always a happy ending. When you are acting it is not you people are judging it is your character, you don’t have to worry about people saying they don’t like you because they don’t know you, all they know and see is the character you are playing. All my life I have had an above average memory. When I was younger my mother would brag to everyone and have me say things backwards and quote people from movies to impress her friends, of course I absolutely loved it because I love movies and impressing people. Another thing I love about acting is that acting gives you opportunities to go different places and meet new people and try new things. I live in a small town in Maine and everyone always told me I would never make it, I would never be good enough and that there was no chance for me to achieve my dreams with where I live and what I look like. I am a little over weight but I have been losing weight and plan to keep losing weight. The one thing that I keep in mind when I think about losing weight is my future and hopefully an acting career. Tonight I talked with my mom and we actually sat down and really discussed my future in acting. My mother and I talked about how this is really what I want to do and that this is the only thing I truly love and can see myself doing. We are planning on getting head shots very soon and she told me that if this is really what I would like to do then she would bring me to New York for an audition. Her telling me that she would bring me to New York for an auditions blows me away and really shows me that she really supports and believes in me to do this. Just today we were talking about how we are struggling and don’t know what we are going to do. So for her to do this for me is out of this world. I have never been in a movie or commercial or TV show, but I do have experience in acting in plays. Ever since I was little I have loved acting, I would watch a TV show or movie and then act like one of the characters until bedtime. When people are at the age of four or five they want to become singers or princesses or fashion designers, but I have always wanted to be an actress, I have always wanted to make it far because I have seen how much my family have worked and struggled with money and I guess I would like to make it big to help them out so they aren’t so stressed out because it really hurts me to see the ones I love that way. Whenever I think about acting, I get this excited, overjoyed, and just beyond happy feeling. When I act I feel at home, I feel like I have finally found where I belong and I have found where I’m suppose to be and what I’m suppose to be doing, it is the only time where I feel truly happy. I have been bullied and felt unwanted because of some people in school, mostly because I’m overweight, but with acting I get to forget about that and I don’t have to worry about it. I guess the only way to describe it is that the only time I really feel confident and safe is when I am acting. Acting means everything to me and I don’t know what I would do without it, acting is my world. Okay, enough of the gushy stuff. S'marii KingHi! My name is Omika and I am sending this comment in reference to the roles that are available for Tyler Perry’s new sitcom “The Haves and the Have Nots.” I have a 19 month old daughter who I would like to allow to audition for any role that is available for babies. My daughter’s name is S’marii Unik King. I have noticed S’marii’s talent since I brought her home. Some children have to go to classes in order to become perfect for acting roles on television, however, S’marii has a natural talent that astounds everyone no matter where she goes. She has been humming songs since 6 or 7 months as well as dancing. She is very musically inclined. I first noticed this when my younger child had given her a plastic flute. S’marii instantly put it to her mouth and began to blow rocking back and forth as if this was something she had been doing forever. The next incident occurred when I was at her grandmother’s house. Her grandfather was playing the harmonica. S’marii immediately attempted to retrieve the harmonica from her grandfather. It was at this point, when he gave it to her, for a moment, it kind of slipped my mind that she actually had it until seconds later when she began to blow like she had the wind of a tornado. I could not believe that a then only 12 month old could even get a sound out of an instrument of that kind. I began to pay close attention to her and her talents. As the days go on, I discover more and more that she does on a talent level. Earlier today, I sat on the sofa watching television when I was interrupted by the sound of a toddler cry. I glanced and noticed S’marii laying on the floor with her hands over her eyes, I jumped up to see what was wrong but when she looked up at me she began to smile. That’s when my other daughter told me that S’marii was just playing. That’s when I said, “enough is enough, i’m putting you on television.” I was not shocked because she is always acting around the house but I decided to get on the computer to research casting calls for children and this was one of the options that came up. I know that my child has a gift, her personality is so different therefore, I am looking for the first opportunity available to get her noticed because at this age kids just don’t do the things she does. It doen’t matter what she does, you can ask her to do what she just did and she will. I think her trying out for one of Tyler Perry’s movies or sitcoms will be the best opportunity because his work is positive and based soley on real life family situations.
