I am an effective communicator and I love to act. I’ve worked in Workshop theater and I’ve also participated in some minor roles at USC as a teenager. I am now 27 years old and have more talent now than I had before. Two years ago I had my own band and we were booked for quite a few gigs. I’ve also won some local singing competition. JuanitaYou know, if you’d asked me as little as five years ago I’d have told you that I was not interested in acting… at all! But during my husband’s most recent deployment we had something happen that changed us forever. It caused me lots of grief and anguish to have my future forever altered like that. So, one night as I was up after midnight crying my eyes out, flipping through channels, I landed on the premier episode in the show “Smash”. It was awe-inspiring and gave me this crazy idea that I’m not too un-talented, un-original, or un-pretty to do a show! So last year I went to audition for community theatre and fell in love with it. Getting into character, singing my heart out, and being surrounded by so many positive, talented, yet humble creative souls has been therapy for my soul. My new diagnoses don’t even bother me all that much anymore. Steel Magnolias is all about resilience and testimony. It would be a great honor for anyone to earn the right to be a part of this!I don’t have a fancy resume or headshot. I can’t say that this is something I’ve wanted all my life either.
