Michaela DooleyMy name is Michaela Simone Dooley and acting is my lifelong passion. I’ve been in plays and musicals since fourth grade, but I’ve been acting and using drama my whole life. When I was two, I was in a peanut butter commercial (so my mom tells me) and I looked like it was my favorite thing in the world! The thing is, I hate straight peanut butter-always have, always will. This goes to show just how long I’ve been acting. I live in a small resort town where they only have about two-three plays per year, and I’m usually in California visiting my Dad during the third play which is about an hour out of town anyway. So for a young, adventurous actress such as myself, it’s hard to put myself out there and really make my acting work for me. For the past few months I’ve been telling my mom, “I want to really take my acting and singing seriously.” I feel like my family supports me, but I can tell they don’t want me to get my hopes too high. But I will keep my hopes high because that’s the only way I can convince myself that I can make it. I’m always being told by people that I’m going to go places. I heard it from a stranger on Halloween because she saw me as Mulan in ATKP’s Mulan(Her comment was followed by a shout of “DOCTOR SUESS!”) and I was told the same thing by three people within an hour last week in Idaho who I had met only days before. So I don’t feel like I’m being cocky. I feel like, if all of these people are telling me the exact same thing and they don’t even know me fully, then it must mean something. Some people don’t believe in Fate or whatever you call it, but I do. Sometimes. When it works in my favor ha. But in all honesty, I feel like I can go places if I really try… even if I’m stuck here in a small resort town where everyone knows everyone unless you’re a tourist.I’ve been acting for a few years, as I have stated… here are some of the productions I have been a part of in the past: -Mulan (Mulan) -Aladdin (Narrator) -Into the Woods (Stepsister and Snow White) -The Matchmaker (Ermengarde) {also called Hello Dolly}Those are just a few of the many I’ve been in and will be in hopefully. Also, when I was in The Matchmaker, my director said I had done such a fabulous job that she invited me to the State Thespians Festival which was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, even though I wasn’t part of the cast or crew and she had a limited amount of people she could bring. The production at the time was “The Laramie Project” and it was SO powerful. I became a proud student of my school after that play because it had such an impact on the audience. I have a lightness to myself to where I can easily talk to people, and they can easily talk to me that I get from both my mom and dad. Something that sets me apart from most people I know that are my age though, is that I have an acceptance for people, music, and situations that some people just don’t accept. I try my best not to judge anyone (but I do judge sometimes-I’m only Human) and I know I will never be perfect, but I can sure try for it as much as possible. As for the music I mentioned, I will talk about music all day. I’m not too educated in the musical industry and I don’t pretend to be. I just love music. I will go from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, to Ariana Grande, to Blue Foundation and repeat on Pandora. I feel that because of my broad music taste, it has opened me up to something most people don’t see… acceptance. I’m not fully sure of it, but I believe that in me listening to all the music I can from random people walking down the hallways of my school, helps me accept not only their taste in tunes, but their opinions on life itself. I overall try to be well rounded and accepting and take a look at things from my angle, their angle and a philosophical angle. But that’s just me.As for why I would love to be in this show in particular, I look up greatly to Ariana Grande. As I said before, I listen to her on Pandora Radio… and I stalk her online and try to be sweet and kind like she is. She’s my role model and ever since I’ve developed a love for her, I feel happier in life. I also love Jennette McCurdy, because she is beautiful inside and out.Tonight at dinner, I looked at my parents and stated, “I want to be an Actress.” And they told me that they try by putting me in singing and acting lessons, which I am so grateful for… but, being here, it’s hard.And I’ve always wanted to act.
