Pitch Perfect came to me in a time that I desperately needed something to distract me from my own life. You see I was kinda like a Beca Mitchell not a DJ or an altgirl with piercings and such but I felt her dilemma the girl who felt stuck somewhere in this case it was College feeling like it was keeping her from reaching her true potential elsewhere.LIfe doesn’t turn out the way she expects-as it rarely does resulting in Beca actually ended up loving Barden. It happened to me gradually i thought when I moved to that place i would hate it but i had the best time of my life in that school. I even branched out and started performing because of it. I sing, dance(not professionally though I am trainable) and act people have told me I have excellent comedic timing (though never on such a level Hollywood movie of course). The thing is I would give anything if only I could be part of the process-no matter how insignificant just to experience what the first movie gave me in real life-just ultimate joy, reminiscing about close bonds of sisterhood backed up with a killer soundtrack with of course a whole lot of A capella thrown in. Kara ButtermoreIf there is one thing that I have learned from working in theater is that if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, but do what you can to improve it. I have been active in theater for as long as I can remember. Being on stage requires energy, vulnerability, ability, and willingness to change. I have a colorful history working onstage an backstage, as I believe that to be able to form and perfect a craft, you have to know everything there is to know about said craft, including grunt work. Some of the best times I have had are those really late practices during hell…excuse me, tech week where everyone is about to go insane. To me, theater is family and with family you’re allowed to be yourself. I have a lot of energy that helps keep the ball rolling and I will stop at nothing to complete a task. I consider a challenge to be a welcoming change. I’m a people-person so I enjoy working with all types of people because it keeps me on my toes. I have had the opportunity to perform internationally on stages in Ireland so I have a lot of diversity in my training. I have performed in musicals before, and know what it takes to put the performance together. While I have never performed on screen before, I am excited for the opportunity it holds, and would love to learn more about it. I loved Pitch Perfect from the moment I saw it, and I have seen every backstage youtube video that is available. It looks like such a fun a group of people to work with. I love the concept of musical theater in film, and Pitch Perfect has really done a great job in making the film a comedy, but not to the point where it’s overdone with singing and dancing and such.
