I feel that me and my unique personality would be great for this. I actually have divorced parents that me and my siblings are learning to deal with and I think that my resemblance with the character for Growing Up and Down works out great! Ysa VelezHey, Disney! My name is Ysabel and I’m a teen girl that comes from, you guessed it, separated parents. Not only have my dad and mother been separated, but my step dad and mom separated in 6th grade. I’m a 15 year old sophomore attending high school in Georgia, although I lived in Chicago my whole life before this. My passion for acting began in 8th grade when I transferred to my current school. I took part in our school’s musical, and I have been in musical every year since then. Not only that, but this year I took part in three forensics tournaments and starred as Alice in our schools production of Alice in Wonderland. I did some smaller plays in my younger years as well. It seems like I haven’t done a lot, but I am grateful for every opportunity I have on stage, so quantity isn’t super important to me. The quality of my acting is more important, I think. I have done many extracurriculars in my life before (and a little bit during) acting. Figure skating, gymnastics, tennis, others, and the one I stuck with the longest, ballet. I’m not as athletic as I used to be, but the hobbies I really enjoy are reading, writing, finding new music, yoga, blogging, and fighting for gender equality and change in the world. Thanks to participating in musical, I have been trained to learn dances in limited time, learn new styles of dances (I had to learn tap during rehearsals for our production of Singin In the Rain!), and make my emotions and facial expressions count. I’m not the best singer, but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying it. I also come from a Hispanic (Puerto Rican) background. I’m 75% Puerto Rican (I have a Caucasian dad) and I have short (bob stage of growing out a pixie) brown hair, brown eyes, and light/medium skin. I’m probably 5’3, which is a little annoying, but that’s genetics. I enjoy the subjects AP World History and Latin II in school the most. When it comes to acting I’m hoping to land some more comedic roles as shows like The Office, Parks and Recreation, and more have caused me to grow attached to comedy. I have been watching Disney since I was very little, and I will admit I miss some of the really good old shows. But I think if I had a shot now, I would work hard and try to relate to the young viewers that might watch this new show. It’s hard having split up parents. But this show is a chance to remind kids that not everything happens the way we think it will (no kidding, I mean, the parents turn 14!) but that’s okay, and sometimes things have to happen for a reason. I love participating in academics and am very bright as I score in the 99% tile with my Isats. I enjoy hanging out with my family and being around my siblings as they are the funniest kids you will ever meet. I enjoy singing and acting and have been told multiple times (in school and at home) to “do us all a favor and stop humming ,singing etc) I Live In Dolton IL And I Am Really Hoping To Get This Role Because it seems like a really good family project to work on. Some Of My Hobbies Are Hanging out With Ny Friends And Helping People Fit In Where The Fit In. That’s Another reason why I would love this role because I could use that people skill through my character and into the show. I really appreciate making characters come to life and I think this is the perfect opportunity to do so.
