Then I saw my first Rogers and Hammerstein Cinderella (and I watched every version of Cinderella I could get my hands on), and I would find myself playing the music while in the shower. I always imagined everything as a fairytale and would always think how grand it was to be a princes. I went to high school and college and learned that being a real princess was actually harder and more demanding. Basically admist all the glamor and beautiful clothing, there was a maturing woman. Princesses had to make sacrifices and be determined and strong. Cinderella became more than inspiration for me. I wanted to be beautiful like her in both mind and body. I was always overweight, and she gave me the courage to learn to feel better about myself. I lost weight and felt more comfortable in my own skin. Now, feel at the age of 23 I can truly see what I accomplished. Cinderella went through so much but she came out on top. I struggled with shyness and self esteem, but I feel that somehow I was able to reach my own dreams. I will never be as skinny as an actress I see in hollywood today or as cinderella in the disney movie, but I feel that somehow I can portray the same amount of strength and beauty if I could play Cinderella. I could paint the face of Cinderella based off my own experiences. I want a chance to be a Cinderella for all the other girls who go through the same thing I do, because I believe it is well within their ability to do so. Kathryn "Katie" RehmHello, After looking at the photos of the three famous, young women who have been chosen as the top competitors for the role of Disney’s Cinderella, although they are pretty, I see that none of them truly resemble the Cinderella in Disney’s original movie. Beginning at around 8 years-old to present time, I have been told by many, many people (even strangers on the street!) that I look like Disney’s Cinderella, and Belle in Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” as well as Audrey Hepburn, and I must admit that I do agree: I have wide-opened, huge, dark brown eyes, a long neck, white, white clear skin, long, thick, rich brownish/golden hair with a few glints of auburn and lots of body waves, and because I was fortunate to have braces when young I do have a nice, full smile. I sing perfect pitch soprano, and adore singing, and I am also a concert pianist, and very familiar with music theory. (My family thinks I could be Katharine McPhee’s sister because of our similar looks and the way we carry ourselves with our polished mannerisms, except that I am more petite. Katharine and I have our music training in common, also.) I am 5’4″ and have a feminine, curvy, petite build with an extremely tiny waist that is one of my features that people seem to comment on and remember. Throughout my life I have been told by many people that I have a naturally sweet, naive look shining out of my eyes and face just as Disney’s original Cinderella has, and yet I am a strong, young woman: three years ago I graduated with a BS in Psychology from the Ivy League, all female, Smith College in Northampton, MA. Although I am a calm, mature 25 years-old, people I meet for the first time constantly tell me that they thought I was 16! I am a trained ballerina and I have performed in San Diego on stage in dancing and singing venues, and have acted in live stage productions. My favorite role was playing Feste in Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” because I love Shakespeare and not only did I have a spunky acting role, but I was able to play several musical instruments throughout the play and also sing! I presently live in Boston and to pursue my life-long dream of playing the role of Cinderella I would be able to fly to London immediately for an audition!! (My mom is a flight attendant and I can fly at a substantial discount.) As well as being dedicated and giving 200% to anything I undertake, I am a great listener and direction-taker, and have an inborn talent for memorization and emoting.
