Megan McCawMy name is Megan McCaw, I’m a 17 year old high school junior, Caucasian female. I’m about 5’10” although many people insist that I’m taller. I don’t really have any prior acting experience, but I have been performing in front of crowds since I was six years old, playing various sports. I currently play volleyball and basketball for my high school and I have an accumulated GPA of 3.8 and a weighted GPA of 4.4. Ever since I was little I’ve always had this dream of becoming an actress. I would act out scenarios in front of anyone who was willing to watch. I fell in love with movies and their stories. I fell in love with the idea of portraying a character and becoming different people. I didn’t just fall in love with film itself, but rather I fell in love with everything about film. I’ve wanted so badly to be apart of it ever since I can remember. But once I entered high school, I kind of put this notion out of my head being as I never thought I could make it nor had I any experience whatsoever. But as the pressure of graduating and finding the right college and deciding what I want to do with my life is being forced upon me, all I can think about is what I really want and what I’ve always wanted, and none of it has anything to do with filling out college applications. I want to hold a script in my hands and stay up late at night memorizing lines. I want a director in front of me telling me I said that wrong, or to try it differently. I want to take someone’s character as they appear on paper and give them life. I want the chance to be someone new every time I go to work. I want to be an actress. Plain and simple. I’m scared that I’ve waited too long diminishing and hiding my dream that I’ve lost my chance. I’m scared that I’ll never get to experience what it’s like to be apart of something so spectacular as film is to me. I’m scared that I’m going to go off to college, get a job, and live this life that I do not want. I’m scared that being scared ruined my chance to fulfill my dream, and therefore ruined my chance of happiness. It took a lot of things to make me realize just how important this industry is to me. And it took even more to give me the courage to go for my dream. I know I’m inexperienced, but that doesn’t mean I’m not capable of performing. Besides, you have to start somewhere right? So why not here? Why not now? I want this so bad, and I’m willing to fight for it and work harder at it than anything I’ve ever worked for my entire life. I learn fast, I can take directions, and I can work well with others. I’ve been playing on sports teams all my life and they have taught me all of those things, and many more that could really attribute to working as an actress. Acting is an art, a talent. A talent that I know I have and am capable of. All I need is the chance to show it. I have prior military experience (no longer in) but spent 11 months in Iraq, and a degree in Public Relations and Marketing, which would help me relate to the business aspect and FBI sting operation portions of the storyline.
