JenI think it would be very cool to be part of a movie that depicts the underground railroad, it is such a mystery to me. My friend recently bought a home in Cambridge, MD, it was originally owned by a person who risked her life to support the under ground railroad. I have another friend whose great great grandmother was a slave and another friend who lived in DC during a time when she was not allowed to live in the same area as her white friends. The thought of slavery still blows my mind, I can not comprehend a person as property. I have lived in Annapolis, MD for almost 6 years now, on my first visit to the city dock I saw placks that designated this area as a place where slaves were imported and marketed, this fact was not hidden but rather memorialized, I can not imagine such activity as acceptable. A few years ago I toured George Washington’s home at Mount Vernon and I was shocked to learn that he had slaves. Appartently being a slave owner haunted him and upon his death he freed them.
