Ashly ManningHello there! My name is Ashly Manning. I am 21 years old and a mother of two. I have an amazing god given talent which happens to be the gift of song. Lately over the past few years I’ve had some really troubling times, becoming homeless and still to this day living in a family shelter in Harlem, Nyc, having a severely high risk pregnancy and giving birth to a very unhealthy little boy, losing my job, getting kicked out of countless homeless shelters in the past 3 years. My life has always been tough but I recently hit rock bottom. I stopped singing, I stopped writing, I lost my passion for music and life in itself. Through it all I eventually heard a little voice in my head telling me no matter what I’ve been going through to not give up and whenever I heard that small voice I felt a warm sensation deep within my heart. So I kept on pushing forward and slowly but surely I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Even though I still reside in a homeless shelter and I am currently out of work I was able to gain custody of my younger sister, help my mother get treatment for her addictions and stay strong with a level head throughout my baby’s last two major procedures. I’ve noticed the maturity, and the humbleness I’ve gained over the years and I am thankful. I am ready for a change I am ready to share my gift with the world and show our generation, my generation and my children that through god anything can happen, not only anything but the best can happen. I am ready to show them that persistence, determination and prayer can help you conquer any battle that comes your way. I want to show them that we are better than the stereotypes, we’re better than foodstamps and living off of the government. I am ready to be a role model a positive role model and god has spoken to me. He let me know that I’ve been given this gift of song for a reason greater than singing in the mirror and I am ready to get out there and let his light shine through me. I know that it’s going to take some time and a lot of work and dedication because nothing happens overnight but I am willing to learn, I am willing to listen, and I am ready to finally give this a try, and I know that in gods time things will aline themselves accordingly.
