  18. Taylor Biggs

My name is Taylor Biggs, I am a 17 year old female, about to go through my final year in high school and living with my grandparents in Yuma, Arizona. I would like to be considered to be on your show, The Star Next Door, because music and singing has helped me go through so many huge obstacles in my life. I started singing when I was six years old. At first, my voice was pretty rusty, but through the years, it was gotten tremendously better. At age eight, my parents divorced, and my father was in the Army, leaving me, my twin sister, and my little brother to be cared for by our grandparents here in Arizona. I took the event the hardest, and I didn’t want to grow up without my parents there. Then, a song I listened to made me see the situation in a new direction, and I started to get better. Two years later, my father remarried, and we then went to live with our new step-mother, as well as our two new step-brothers. Those next three years were the most terrifying and traumatic years of my life. I was abused, mentally and physically. I was about to take my life, because my willpower and body were weakening. But music kept me going, because every song I listen to has a message, and I try to interpret the songs. Then, during spring break of 2009, we went to see our grandparents after not seeing them for two years. Then, when we had to go back, I fought to stay with my grandparents, and I was shocked because I was terrified of my stepmother, and stepbrother immensly. Unfortunately, it was not the same outcome with my sister and brother, and they went back. I was all alone for the first time in my life, and I felt so isolated, and so depressed, I wanted to commit suicide once again. But two things kept me going: God and my love for music. It has now been nearly four years since that spring break of 09. and I couldn’t be happier. I have recieved two certificates in school for getting a 4.0 GPA for two semesters, I have started to play guitar since junior year, and I have great faith in God, whom without I would probably still be in the terrible situation with my stepmother and stepbrother. I want to have a small singing career because I want to show the world that no matter how much life breaks you, always remember these three things: Love, Faith, and Hope. God bless you all, and I wish luck to all who want to inspire.

  19. Milan

Why should I be considered…alright. I’m not gonna give you a sob story like I’ve seen almost everyone doing on the other page for this upcoming show. And for years I’ve been trying to find a way to get my music out there. Im just hoping this could be it. My name is Milan, I’m 15 in less than a momth, and I’m from Tampa FL. I’m actually quite confused as to exactly how this show will work. But I’m just going with it. Please give me a shot. Thank you:)

  20. Matthew Bright

I would be interested, My name is Matthew Bright I am 28 years old I was born in Chicago IL but moved about 30 mins away to Hammond IN. I come from a family that has always been involved in music. My aunt Senabella Gill has been in Jazz for most my life. My sister has performed in plays around the city. Myself I have written and recorded songs that I have performed at festivals locally and other local venues, I have been writing songs and performing in front of crowds of people since I was 10. I have always seen myself as singer, entertainer, and performer. People have been Telling me for the longest time to go after my dream of becoming a music artist and songwriter.
I have stacks and stacks of journals of lyrics. Recently I have picked up the acoustic guitar, not great but I am learning. On June 8th of 2012 my life changed, my Uncle whom was very influential to me moved on. I was able to see “The Avengers” with him before he passed on and he told me, to do what makes you happy and to go after your dreams with no regrets. Some of my biggest influences are John Mayer, The Beatles, and Common. I should be considered because I don’t feel I am any good at anything else. Nothing feels better, or feels more natural than performing, singing, and entertaining people.

  21. Milan

How old do you have to be?

  22. Joy

I was born and raised in the City of Brotherly Love. I currently live approximately 1 mile outside of the city.
I am 5’9”, 290 lbs. brown eyes, brown hair, 58 yrs. old, friendly, funny, mezzo soprano. I enjoy singing gospel, pop, soul, all types of music. I am a member of my church choir. I am an actress; I do not belong to a union, I am a member of a Theatre Arts Company, of which I have the opportunity to act as well as sing in live stage productions.
For as long as I can remember I have had a song in my heart and music on my brain. I love to sing, music is my passion its fun and it makes me feel happy. When I was little my auntie would always tell me to stop that noise. I use to dream when I was little that I would be in the audience and suddenly the announcer would say that the singer would not be able to perform and they would call me up out of the audience to sing. I know crazy but it’s good to dream they can come true. I am the singer next door. I am always humming or singing something my neighbors/boyfriend can verify this. It would love the opportunity to be the singer next door. Thanks

  23. Searra

I love singing! It’s my passion, dream, and life goal. I think about it day and night. I am accepted into loads of musicals and honnors choir. I would love to be apart of this.

  24. Rachel Jenkins

I don’t know what the future holds but I do pray for a tomorrow. Take Jennifer Hudson for instance, I have been overlooked just as she was. I am able to empathize what many people go through when they are trying to reach the top. I will say, as Michael Jackson would say; ‘Oh baby give me one more chance.’ so I can be “The Star Next Door”.

  25. Laura Rodriguez

I have always had a passion for singing – in my church choir, in chorus at school, but mostly in my shower or room0.. I’ve only written one song, but I have never thought in my life that I could become an artist. Just recently, I have started going to karaoke nights and one person suggested that I should audition for show like this one. No one ever really pushed me to use the talent I have been blessed with, so I would like to put this talent to use. Singing for me is such a thrill, and I don’t sing to become famous rather because it comes from my heart and is truly enjoyable. If you would have me, I would love to sing and share this wonderful gift with the world. In addition to singing, I play 5 instruments: guitar, double bass, cello, piano, and the clarinet. I hope that I have a chance at this opportunity, and though this may be a competition for a prize, the only prize I seek is to share my voice with the world. Thank you so much!

    GRAND RAPIDS MI

  37. Lisa

Oh snap!! I can’t believe I’m writing this but here goes!

I’m a 43 year old woman from small town in Michigan. I’m a mother of three very colorful young people who are seriously the funniest people i have ever known. I work in Adult Education by day and sing at home most of the time by night when i can. I live on a quiet little street with SUPER neighbors who love to hear me sing. They know I’m outgoing, love to have fun, somewhat traditional and devoted to family but they cant believe who I become once i have a mic in my hand and an audience to sing to! This is how it all started!!!

I grew up in a very upbeat church in the South. I was the little red headed white girl who loved to get up and sing with the choir. I can still remember those bluesy soul-filled songs that we would sing. The kind of songs that give you the freedom to let loose, get loud and clap your hands. The kind of music that allows you to mix it up a little bit and get people on their feet.
When I was 18 I moved to Michigan and had my first child. Shortly after that I met my super cute adorable husband, Carlos ( people call us Lucy& Ricky) . He and i married and started a family. We had two more kids, moved into our house and put all of our efforts into raising them. They are amazing kids who don’t need much from mom anymore so lets fast forward to now!!!

So last year my hubby and I were looking for ways to spend more time together so we went into a little karaoke bar in our town. Its a hotel lounge actually but very fun. The sign outside said ” Best singers in town” and I must say, we heard some amazing voices in that place that night. I’m sitting there thinking about myself on stage and I know what I can do if i allow myself to actually let loose. I look around to see if any of my students or friends of my kids parents are in there. The coast was clear so I was going up on stage!!!
My husband had no idea that I could sing, it never came up and I really never sing except around the house. So I’m terrified to get up and give it a try but i do it anyway. I started with a easy song “At Last” by Etta James and finished the night with “Faithfully” by Journey! I had decided to let my man see a side of me that he had never seen in our long 23 years together!!! Well let me tell you! That feeling was back and it felt good to see people out of their seats, just for me!! I was totally hooked and so was Carlos!!! See he already thinks I’m the best damn woman he’s ever seen and now he has a twinkle in his eye as I sing on stage! Last week I tried open mic night at a different bar and it was awesome! I might have to do it again!!
So that’s how it all started! Carlos bought me a karaoke player for Christmas that year and we go to the bar as often as we can so he can hear me sing. He loves to see the crowds reaction! lol. My two oldest kids love to come and watch too. They were amazed the first time they saw me and couldn’t believe that was their mom up there. They know mom and dad love to have fun, have lots of crazy fun friends but singing?? no, they were shocked!
I have never entered a competition before except for a karaoke contest last year at a festival up in Baldwin Michigan called “Troutorama” lol!! I will do it again this year in a couple of weeks and I cant wait!! I may not win but who cares!! They really seemed to love me last year and that’s whats up!!
If I’m ever going to go out on a limb and put myself out there it would be to SING!!! I would love to be “The Star Next Door”!!!

  38. Katie Austin

Because singing and performing is my passion!! I also know the importance of continuing to grow as an artist. Always learning and honing your craft. I’m ready for “The Star Next Door” bootcamp!! Come to my “backyard” and let’s work!! John Rich himself is one that has really pushed me to pursue my career. I opened up for him in Texas and he said I needed to be in Nashville going after my career. I would love to have the opportunity for him, as well as others, to help groom me to be the best performer I can be. 🙂

  39. Nicole W

My name is Nicole and I am 29 years old. I currently live in the San Francisco Bay Area and this is truly the best place to be for everything but music! I have been singing since I was two years old in church and sang in choir from grade school through college. I have taken private voice lessons for the past three years and have studied the Seth Riggs method of singing. Music is everything to me and singing and sharing my music with others always makes me so happy. I won the Singer of the Year for my age group at the iPop convention a few years back and really do everything I can to continue to perfect my voice. I feel I should be picked for this show because I am motivated, hard working and am ready to share my voice with the world. I know I would be a great singer and I would work hard to ensure my success.

  40. Stephanie Rod

Hello my name is Stephanie Rod, I am 20 years old and a junior in college. Since the time I was 3 years old I’ve had the dream of becoming a professional singer. I’ve perfomed in several shows in school, state competitions, and off broadway shows, but as many other performers I struggle to meet the right people who further my career. My parents have alwasy been supportive of my passion, however they have enforced the idea of education taken front seat and my singing as more of a hobbie. But to me singing is more of a hobbie, is a lifestyle, a passion, a way to find strength and hope. I don’t dream of becoming a major pop star because I want an endless supply of money. I dream of becoming a well-known singer to reach out to people in the way many artist have reached out to me. Its not about the fame for me, its about the passion the excitement. Most of all, singing is about the enjoyment of sharing and being appreciated for what it is I love to do the most.

I love to perform no matter where I am. I am always ready and never shy. I’ve always told people that the stage is my home.I love to learn so I am not afraid to be taught and take constructive critisim. Ever sice I lost my job, I have been pursuing music full time and I feel it was the best thing that has happened to me so far. Thank you and God Bless you!!

  49. Elizabeth Alvarez

Hey! My names is Elizabeth and I am 16 years old. I have to say that I love to sing but only sing for some people. People have told me that I sound like the artists that sing the current song i was singing but because i have low self esteem about my voice I really don’t believe them. ive only sang in public once, and that was in 8th grade for our talent show we had. I had people I’d never talked to be before telling me how good I sounded, but I just said thank you and smiled because I didn’t believe them. I just want someone to listen to me sing, who knows about music and singing. Singing is like my way of speaking, how I feel at the time. I would really appreciate if you came to Chicago, IL. You would make my dream come true, when so many people believe in me. Thank You!

  56. Stacy Brewer

    Hey There,

My name is Stacy and I have been singing since I can remember. I live in Lansing, MI but I’m from a small town called Howell. Nothing ever happens where I live. There is never a chance for me to get my name out there. We didn’t have bunches and bunches of money when I was growing up so I wasn’t ever really able to travel to audition for anything. When I was 16, my mom took me to Minneapolis MN so I could have my shot at American Idol. Obviously that didn’t happen. When I was 21, I saved up and went to Chicago for the Voice but that didn’t happen either. I’d love to “do it the hard” way and make demo’s and send them out. Go to meeting with producers and all that but I don’t have the money to do so. If y’all could come here and help me out, I would be so appreciative.

I’m not going to tell you I’m doing this for anybody other than myself. I feel like when people say, “I’m doing this for my dad or my sister, etc.” it’s not really the truth. In the end, they are “doing it” for themselves as am I. However, my mom has always worked super hard and brought me and my two sisters up as a single mom and we all are forever grateful. My mom was recently diagnosed with MS and so now everything is even harder for her. I always told her if I ever got “rich and famous” I’d buy her a house and make it so she’s never have to work again. I’m not doing this for her, but if I made it, I’d love to give back to her everything she gave up for us. Please keep me updated and let me know if there is anything else I need to do!

    Thanks for The Opportunity,
    Stacy

  57. Faith hensley

  58. Haillie Williams

Without a doubt singing has been in my blood since birth. I am 18 years old and just graduated high school(Sunnyside High/Fresno,Ca). I am the only person to ever sing in my schools’ all major choirs all four years, freshman were never allowed but an exception was made just for me.I also have starred as the lead role in a dramatic play all four years of high school.I also can sing in Latin(Ave Maria). Even though my style of singing is UNIQUE, I have been compared to several artists. I can sing memorable slow R&B ballads like Leona Lewis, Etta James, and Queen Latifah that have brought tears to people in the audience, or I can belt out a fast dance track like Rhianna. People say I look remarkably like Beyonce. I am also an experienced Hip-Hop dancer . I have performed cover songs from music videos(singing live while dancing) with back up dancers with an added sprinkle of my own flavor. Dance choreography is another extreme passion. I would have tried out for other singing reality shows but transportation and serious money woes has been a major stumbling block. My family(1 brother,1sister,1 niece, mother, father) has struggled with financial instability for the past 8 years. We have had to move to 6 different apartments in the last 8 years. My parents are trying very hard to support us, but good paying jobs are really scarce in Fresno,Ca.We currently live in a two bedroom apartment . My mother and father have sacrificed both bedrooms to us while they sleep in the living room. I have had 2 very low points in my life, we were homeless for a period of time. My siblings were dislocated and separated while having to live with several different relatives. My parents had to stay in a motel until my father found work. Eventually we were brought back together but lived on a very skinny shoestring budget., which brings me to low point number 2. A decision was made to either pay the rent or pay the electric bill. Rent was decided and the electric power was shut off. It was mid November and we had no heat, lights,or fresh food. We had to eat cold food out of cans. I continued to do my homework by candle light and feel my way down a dark hallway to my cold bedroom at night to sleep. This lasted more than 30 days until we had to move once again.I still maintained 4.0 G.P.A. while memorizing and performing in my school play and all 3 choirs. I now have a job in a grocery store and I am damn(excuse my French) proud to have it. I am graciously contributing to my household. Going through many tribulations early in my life, has opened my eyes to what is important. Its not material objects one can buy, but how no matter what happens in my life , family is the epi-center. I was given musical talents most people don’t have and probably would take for granted. I am eternally grateful for what I have and would like to share it with everyone and let them know there is pot of gold at the end of the rainbow no matter what it is, you just have to look for it. I am going to be a freshman in the fall at Fresno State University majoring in music. Even If I am never given the opportunity to sing professionally at least I know I have given it my all. I WILL NEVER STOP TRYING!! Thanks for listening.

  59. Emily

Please come to Sharon, MA!! I would love to be on the show!

  60. rochone anderson

    Hello,
I am a part of an amazing all male vocal group. we are all different races and have different lifestyles but we find our common ground through music. We have been working so hard for the past 3 years on our debut album and I know we have what it takes to make it big. Please check our music page and let us know how we can audition for the show. We dream of being positive influence in the industry and bringing many cultures and lifestyles together through our music. It would mean so much to us to be able to learn from the celebrity judges that we all grew up admiring. We take our career so seriously that we all moved into a two-bed room loft so we can practice everyday and strengthen our bond as group. This is our dream and we hope you pick us to represent Orange County California.

I hope you like what you hear God Bless
    Rochone.

  62. Amanda

Exceed not succeed. Haha. Sheesh this autocorrect business. 😛

  63. Amanda

Hi there! I’m 24 and eager to get out if my singing shell. I love to perform but always felt like I wasn’t quite good enough. However, with the right challenge, I can put my mind to anything. I’ve always chosen the responsible route over the “hey I’m young” route, and being a house wife and mother of two I finally want to take my chance at something. I know I have the talent, and I want to better share it with the world. “The gift you have is a gift from God. What you do with that gift is your gift to God.”- I was taught this is my high school drama club and have felt it to be true ever since. Give me the chance; my ambition will meet and hopefully succeed your expectations.

  64. Christina Procon

My name is Christina Procon, I am 22 years old, just graduated from college and I have been singing my entire life. I should be considered for this show because I have been in 3 choirs, 5 talent shows, sang at 8 relay for lifes and even sang on a popular radio show and won an audition to conneticut idol but was unfortunately too young! My vocal trainer when I was younger taught me how to sculpt my voice and train myself for all types of notes. I can sing soprano, alto and sometimes even bass. I would love to be a part of this show because singing is my dream and I am just waiting for someone to take a chance on me, thank you!

  65. Eddie Bernal

My name is Eddie Bernal & I’m from Kerrville, Texas. I’d absolutely love a chance to be on your new singing show. I think bringing the show to the contestants is such a fresh idea – truly one of a kind! About me: I started singing in choir in middle school actually only because I needed to take another elective, but quickly found that I really loved to express myself through song. I was a two-time Texas All-State choir winner in high school who won more for my vocal ability than my ability to read music (I sing by ear). I’m also a prior active duty Air Force videographer who’s definitely seen a lot with my job. I’m currently a 37 year old student who’s always put my singing career on the back burner & would like the chance to showcase my talent. In my spare time you’ll find me recording cover songs on my iMac & even posting some of them on YouTube. I sing music of all genres, but feel right at home with acoustic, R&B, and Christian music. Before my grandmother (she raised me & I consider her my first mom) died of cancer almost two years ago, she asked me to promise her that I would pursue my dream of singing. I haven’t pursued it lately, but I’ve decided that it’s time to keep my promise to her. Her husband, my grandfather, always said “Mijo, if you can get paid for doing something you love to do, then pursue it with your whole heart” and that’s exactly what I have finally decided to do. I thank you so much in advance for this amazing opportunity!

I am a 14 year old country singer / songwriter from Newnan, Georgia. I play several local venues, and have established quite a following. I have been doing live performances since the age of 10 and have had the honor of singing with Tim Dugger and J.D. walker on several occasions and have opened and closed for Doug Stone. 69. Courtney Nicole Jurick

My hometown of Valpariaso, IN is the birthplace of Orville Reddenbacher the popcorn king, and “me” Courtney. I am 22 years old and just graduated from Ball State University with a degree in public relations. (My parents wanted a back up plan.) However, singing is all I have ever wanted to do. I have been performing since age four and wrote and recorded my first CD at 12 years of age. While away at college I was on the Code Red Dance team, and am the current Miss Ball State University. This title is part of the Miss America organization, and it give me the opportunity to not only sing, but raise money for charities. My endeavor is the March of Dimes. I was born 8 weeks premature with a 10% chance of survival for the first 24 hours. Their therapies helped save my life. I have always had the natural ability to sing and have won many contests. One of my songs Flashbulbs was used in the soundtrack for Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2. I feel like God blessed me, and I would love the opportunity your show can give me to further develop my talent. Working with superstar celebrities would be a chance of a lifetime. All I have ever wanted to is to be is a singer, but never knew how to actually start a career. I feel like I am at crossroads in life. If I don’t get the opportunity to pursue my singing ambitions now, I feel like I will end up stuck in a 40 hour per week job that doesn’t fulfill me. I can commit 100% of my time to your show if your choose to come to my home town. Not only am I a good singer, but a songwriter, dancer, and a super hard worker. Please, please, please select me to be on your show and to pursue my dream.

  70. Courtney Jurick

I live in Valparaiso, IN, the birthplace of Orville Reddenbacher the popcorn king, and me, Courtney Nicole Jurick. I am a 22 year old recent college Public Relations graduate from Ball State University. However my dream and passion in life has always been to be a singer. During my years at college I was a member of the Code Red Dancers, and am the current Miss Ball State University. This title is part of the Miss America system and has led to working for many charities. My personal endeavor is the March of Dimes. Their therapies were used to help save my life. I was born as a premature baby with undeveloped lungs, with a 10% chance of survival for the first 24 hours of my life. I feel that God blessed me with the ability to sing well for a reason. This is the perfect time in my life to go for it. I don’t have a job and I can commit 100% to becoming the Star Next Door. I would love to have the guidance of an incredible singer to help me out. I feel that I am at a crossroad in my life, and if I don’t get to pursue my lifelong ambition now, I may get stuck in a 40 hour a week job and never truly be happy with it. Please, please, please choose to help me pursue my dream of singing and performing.

  71. Arielle

I would love for the show to stop in Detroit. I’ve never actually auditioned for a singing reality show but I, like many others, have been immensely intrigued by the idea. But traveling all the way to places like New York or LA for auditions just was not possible. It would be great to have an audition in my neck of the woods for a change.
