Laurie Jane AchinGood morning from Marshfield, MA- My name is Laurie Jane Achin and I am 35 years old but often people say I look younger than my actual age. I have been involved with acting my whole life till after college. I have several actors/actresses that I know who are already on your cast for Switch at Birth. I grew up admiring Marlee Maltin who grew up in the same state and started her acting career at the same place where I started mine at Center Light Theater under Center of the Deafness. I have a lot of experience with acting in general and in different genres growing up and often landed main roles and did several musical productions. I am an deaf actress and past few years as I moved to Mass, I changed my career into teaching for the deaf and hard of hearing at HS level. I do miss being part of the acting world and would like to try get back into it. I wanted to introduce myself and I will be glad to submit my head-shot and resume to show my background but I am not sure how to do that under this comment link. I also am very athlete and was involved with Deaflympics three times in volleyball and beach volleyball. I also have dancing and gymnastics background and am fluent in ASL. I attended and graduated from Gallaudet University, B.A. in Drama Education and M.A. in Deaf Education. I was involved with Rathskellar dance group and Quest for the Arts (theater and educational group) and traveled all over the world performing and providing acting workshops for over 7 years. I am friends with Liz Tannebaum, who I have performed with in several production growing up. Thank you for your time and consideration.Laurie J. Achin 0 Reply January 20, 2015

Chynae KeyI’m 17 from Pennsylvania and I was always told I would make a good actress although I have no experience. I watch Switched at Birth and I’m always excited when there is a new episode. You should pick me because I’m young and I can relate to the show. It would be a fun experience to be able to be apart of the crew. 0 Reply January 19, 2015
Benjamin David WalkerI tried editing a comment I posted prior to this after realizing I should have mentioned that I am a musician (I play guitar, harmonica and drums and I’m in a band {here’s a link to a song I made just now vocaroo.com/i/s08t6IUz9ICo , ’twas was hard to keep going because I hurt my arm skateboarding and it has yet to fully heal), glassblower, painter and graffiti artist (This link imgur.com/a/Gkawt#0 is where you can view some of my art). You can see pictures of me and more of my artwork on my Facebook profile: facebook.com/iamtheskywalkerI really think I should be considered for a role because:1.) It’s my dream to be more than a background actor, and I will do my best to make that dream happen. 2.) ASL is my first language, and English my second. 3.) I love working with a team and achieving goals. Being an active listener and professional when I work in a team, and I believe this is a real strength of mine — the ability to get along with different personalities. 4.) I love the show; it hits close to home and I want to see myself part of something I love and I know will make my friends and family proud.Thank you, I hope I’m one of the lucky few! 0 Reply January 19, 2015

NeleHi ABC-team, firstly congrats to this amazing show, it really helped me starting with sign language. My name is Nele and I’m 15 years old, at the moment I’m living in Germany but we’re about to move to New Zealand. I would feel very honoured to be a part of Switched at Birth cuz I love acting. Besides music it’s acing what makes me happy. But I need to admit that I took never place in a play or something like this cuz our school isn’t offering something like that. However I’am acting with friends for music videos or stuff like this, it’s really fun. With regard to my life etc. I can say that I’m speaking 4 languages namely Englich,German,Spanich & French. I’m singing, I’ve vocal coaching every week and I was a part of 3 concerts till now, I’m playing the piano and I’m playing soccer for about 9 years now. I’m not tall cuz i’m like 1.49m, I’ve blond hair, green eyes and I have a lot of freckles. Finally I’ll be finishing school in 2 years and after graduation I want to realise my dreams of being a singer and actress, I know this sounds strange. I hope I hear from you, what is really unrealistic but you need to take all the chances giving to you if you want to reach your dream one day. 0 Reply January 7, 2015

I love watching switched at birth because it’s the first ABC family with deaf actors and actresses. And I never thought it would be possible for me to become an actress or play a role on Switched at birth but now I believe I could become a part of it. Hannah MirzaHi, my name is Hannah! I am 12 years old and am very interested in the acting industry.I KNOW SIGN LANGUAGE and have watched this whole show. I volunteer at many places and one of the places i volunteer at is a nursing home. One of the ladies is deaf and the only way to talk to her was writing or sign language. I was interested in learning new languages so she started teaching me. I used to live in New Jersey and when I did… I found an acting audition in Philly for a popcorn commercial. I was so determined at age 7 and wanted to get the part in the commercial. I practiced and when I talked to my dad he said, “Hannah, it will probably be a scam. They will ask you for 1000$ to audition.” He made me believe him because he knew “his stuff. I never got to audition and i felt so much regret not taking it.. even up till today. I always search up casting calls near me but can never find anything. I don’t have much experience except school plays (Annie) and practicing fake scripts online. I am looking for any part because I am actually becoming very good in my eyes. I just need a part to try and audition. I am flexible, do gymnastics, and i am very creative. I have brown hair, brown eyes, and i am 5’2 and 3 quarters. I speak only a little bit of Spanish because I’m half Puerto Rican, half Indian. I would be so honored if i even got the opportunity to audition. Thank you so much! 🙂 Hannah 0 Reply December 27, 2014

I’m not deaf or HoH, but I do have 22 years of experience communicating with the deaf/HoH community. I’ve been signing since I was 6 years old, and one of my good friends is deaf, which is how I learned at such a young age. Teachers even used to pull me out of class to sign for him when his interpreter (who trained me in ASL) couldn’t make it it or was running late to school.I do have acting experience and training (and I’m signed with an agency, if that’s of any importance to you), and my headshots and resume are available upon request.I greatly appreciate your time and consideration, and I hope to hear back from you! Many thanks. I’m always looking to try something new especially when it comes to acting as it’s been my dream since I was a kid. To even be considered would be the most incredible experience. 0 Reply October 22, 2014

Dominique RelifordMy daughter is such an inspiration. Her passion isn’t being in front of camera’s but helping others. She is a 16 yr old Junior in high school with a goal of becoming an ASL interpreter. She takes ASL at her high school and is an amazing signer. She loves what she does and cares deeply and respects the culture. I watched her practice a homework assignment translating a 3 part song into ASL and it moved me is was so beautiful it brought me to tears. I have watched the show from pilot and have enjoyed the wonderful journey the cast and writers have taken me on and feel greatly that my daughter would enjoy such an experience. Thank you so much for your time. 🙂 0 Reply October 16, 2014

Jessica MontoyaI have been studying to be an interpreter since I have graduated High School and I am also a member of my Deaf teachers organization wavinghands.org. I love to volunteer and meet many deaf and hard of hearing individuals at the events he hosts to advertise the Deaf culture. He and I both constantly talk about the show and we are constantly in contact because I have learned all that I know about ASL through his teachings. I would love to represent my mentor through a show that is filled with the Deaf culture and would love to have the opportunity to learn more through amazing Deaf actors who I admire so much! 🙂Height: 5’6-‘7 Hispanic Female 21 years old Fluent in English, Spanish and American Sign Language 0 Reply October 12, 2014

I am a determined person and I am always known to be the star of the party around my family and friends. I am not shy at all. I speak Spanish, English and I am currently learning sign language. Magda CanelliHi, My name is Maggie Canelli and I am a 19 year old girl with profound deafness. I have a cochlear implant over my right ear that allows me to hear, however I don’t always understand what I am hearing. I also sign in ASL and have a really hard time with English. My mom is helping correct the writing of this paragraph. I love your show because I feel like it is helping bring my family together and my sister and brother can maybe better understand me and my problems. I like that the show is about someone I can relate to. I do wish that the series showed a little more of the deaf culture because every deaf person has a different level of deafness and all come from different backgrounds. I come from a hearing family and many of my friends are deaf from deaf families. So many of my friends are not supportive of my cochlear implant and some deaf people treat me differently. My parents thought they were doing the right thing but sometimes I don’t like it either because of people treat me and sometimes I get bad headaches. I would love to be a part of your show so we can show people how many different types of deafness and how we all have problems fitting in even in our own culture.Thank you for hearing my story. I hope I can be a part of your story.Maggie Canelli 0 Reply October 6, 2014

Jasmine MurphyMy name is Jasmine Murphy. I’m 13, British and French and I live in Beijing. I love acting more than anything, it’s my ultimate passion and what I love to do most. I am in a lot of school plays and do after school drama for 2 hours Mondays and Wednesdays. My drama teacher says I’m really good and that I have a bright future if I reach out a make the most of it. I am a good actress and I memorise lines fast. I will study my lines until I know them by the first 2 weeks at most, I won’t ignore them and not be prepared. I am outgoing and not shy, I can talk with anyone comfortably. I’m friendly and positive. I share ideas but listen to others too. I’m caring and considerate. If you accept me, I promise I will try my absolute best, always give 200% and never give up. I know that it is a huge opportunity and I will make the best of it. I’m sure I’d get along really well with the cast! This has been my dream since I can remember, when I was little I always used to ask my family to give me lines or scenes and I would act them out for them. Now that I’m older, I know I want to do this for a living and just be able to do what I love everyday. I know that there are so many trained actors and people that have had so much more experience than me, but if you just give me a chance I’ll show you what I’m capable of. Acting is such an amazing thing, you get to be someone else and you have to figure out how your character would speak, act in daily life. It would be great to be able to influence people in a good way, put a smile on someone’s face and make people laugh while watching you act. If I was picked it would be the greatest ever to happen to me, and I promise I won’t let you down. If you don’t choose me I completely understand, but please consider it! If you want more information or even a picture, feel free to email me. Destini KirkpatrickMy name is Destini. I just turned 21 years old. I grew up with an older sister that has Angelman Syndrome. It’s a rare genetic disorder. Speech is impaired. I grew up knowing how to sign before I knew words. Thats how I would speak with her. She can only sign a few so I’m not fluent but i’m a quick learner to it. Growing up with my sister, it has affected me in how I see the world. It has definitely taught me kindness, compassion, respect, and so much more. I connect with Switched at birth because I feel like it’s the only show that I can relate too. It has taught me how to deal with what others think and to not let it get to me. It’s showed me a beautiful language that I already knew about but never gave a chance and now I have. I’m an introvert but this show has been an outlet for me to come out of my shell more. I would love to be part of this amazing show. I haven”t acted much but I work hard, have great motivation, and love to learn and laugh. I’d love to be considered. Thank you. 0 Reply October 5, 2014
Jessica BluhmAge: 20 Height: 5,4″ Weight: 165 Eye color: Blue Hair color: Brown (long) Ethnicity: CaucasianThe best reasoning I can think of why I would enjoying in being a cast of Switched at Birth is I would love to be apart of a ” show family” that loves and appreciates Deaf Culture as much as I do. I recently discovered I have Ménière’s disease which could lead to me having hearing problems in the future. So, do to finding out this information I have been teaching myself A.S.L. for the past two months in the event I was to lose some of my hearing. To be honest I have always had a drive to learn A.S.L. long before I found out I have this disease. I am just in love with the Deaf culture. In that I mean, I love how no one deaf sees themselves as having a disability or would even want to be hearing just because they are different. How they see themselves as a cultural group bonded together by common experiences and a common language. That’s why I love the deaf culture because of their beliefs, values, traditions, moral attitudes, manners, and ways of the Deaf community. I have never done anything quite as big as the show of Switched at Birth. I have done musicals and things of that sort but not a big scale TV production. I really hope I have the chance to have the opportunity to be apart of the cast of Switched at Birth and if not that’s okay to, At least I got to explain all the amazing aspects of the Deaf culture and community. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you have a nice day. -Jessica 0 Reply October 3, 2014
