I’ve played highly competitive soccer all my life and it took up essentially all of my time, not allowing me to take singing lessons or really devote much time to develop my voice. However, I’m starting lessons in January of 2015, so I’m super super excited about that! I sing whenever I get the chance, whether it’s in my car, or in the shower, and I even won a college-wide talent show one time. My parents are always talking about how when I was 2 I would be sitting in the back of there car hitting a ton of notes to songs on the radio. Benjamin NicklausHello my name is Benjamin Nicklaus, I have been singing since I was 6 years old starting in my church choir. As I moved from state to state with my family, and going through my parents divorce, I ended up living in Naples Florida. I performed with the Naples Philharmonic for 7 years performing 3 solo performances and received training from a world renowned maestro Eric Kunzel. After performing I joined the Marine Corps where I was injured and had to come back to the civilian life. All through high school I was bullied because I was just being myself. I have went through depression which led to me cutting and eventually thoughts of suicide. Thanks to my mentor Demi, I completely changed my demeanor and attitude becoming more confident. I currently do attend anti-bully programs and also lead a group for high school students who need mentoring. I choose to be on this show so that I can show these bullies that we are all unique in our own way and exactly what success we are all capable of. BrittanyI have been singing all my life. I learned to read music before I could even read English. I also have a story behind my music that you can hear in my voice. I love to sing soul and jazz standards but I have also done covers of everything in between. I can honestly say that I love music more than anyone I know, inside and out. I love to listen and discover new artists as well as make music with my band and friends whenever I can. I look the part and I have the personality to back up my skills, which are impressive. I have solid tone and strong intuition and natural talent. I also have good control and pitch due to a lifetime of living in a highly musical family. RachelHi there, I’m rachel. I’m 19 years old, and live in Weymouth, Massachusetts. I am currently not in college, but I am planning on going to Berklee College of Music in the spring. I have been singing for as long as I can remember and I taught myself guitar a few years ago. I’m currently teaching myself mandoline, and after that I’d love to learn more! I also enjoy songwriting. I written probably about 20 songs..with more on the way. My goal in life is to help people with my music. I don’t want to be categorized as a certain genre, I just wanna play and sing what I feel at the moment…weather it be rock or folk or whatever. All the songs I write are relatable with almost everyone, and that’s what I aim for. Not to write meaningless songs, but to sing/write songs that people can understand, and songs that can even change a persons life for the better. Because I’ve been in rough and dark times, but music helped me pass those bumps.
