Broad Green Pictures to Develop Orphan TrainBroad Green Pictures is currently developing a feature film based on the bestselling novel, Orphan Train, written Christina Baker Kline. Orphan Train was published in 2013 and has sold more than two million copies in 35 countries.Kline’s novel takes its name from the rains that regularly traveled from cities in the East Coast to the Midwest between 1854 and 1929 which carried thousands of abandoned children whose fates would be determined upon their arrival. Orphan Train is set in modern day Maine, and tells the intricate tale of two lives. Kline’s novel tells the stories of a 91-year-old Irish immigrant Vivian Daly, who was shipped from New York to Minnesota on the orphan train as a child and a 17-year-old Molly Ayer, who is on the brink of aging out of the foster care system. The two develop a very unlikely friendship when Molly is assigned the task of helping the older woman clean out her cluttered attic as part of her community service.Michael London and Janice Williams of Groundswell Productions will produce the feature film. London is best known for his work on The Illusionist, Milk, and The Astronaut Wives Club. Williams is best known for her work on Trumbo and The Astronaut Wives Club. Yes, I am shy at times, but I am really confident now, in the 7th grade, you wouldn’t catch me dead dancing or singing in front of a PE class of 50+ students, but now, I really don’t care anymore. I just really want to go to school one day, walk into my first period class, and people recognize me! I love world history, and I love to learn about tragic times. In 8th grade, we got to read “Orphan Train” and I loved it! I know that I would be very believable. But if I’m not casted, then oh well, at least I tried, I’m not going to be hurt.
