Duets are special because of the special connection and blending of two voices. I love to sing and have recently begun to explore my talent. I sing locally here in Las Vegas at The Box Office every First Friday. The chance to be mentored AND sing, let alone be in the same room with the Duets superstars would be a mind blowing, life changing dream realized. I respect each one of the different artists styles and have songs from all of them on my ipod right now! I CRAVE the opportunity to be guided by someone who knows music to help me discover what my voice can do. I don’t want to just imitate others. I know it’s in me and just need the faith and trust in someone to bring it out. I’ve been told I have the look, stage presence and sound like a recording artist, but I want to know the feeling of being confident on stage KNOWING that I sound good and can move people with my voice. Emily KnottMy name’s Emily. I’m 18 years old and have recently just graduated High School. I’ve been singing since I was a little girl. I’ve never had a voice lesson in my life, I taught myself how to apply my talent. I was in the choir throughout Grade School and High School. A few of my close friends are the ones who keep telling me to try out for one of the singing shows on T.V., so I picked this one. I watch the show now and I can’t say I admire just one of the judges. They’re all amazing singers and they seem like they are a lot of fun to work with. Although, I do remember watching the season finale of American Idol, Season1, and Kelly Clarkson won. Ever since then I knew I wanted to be just as happy in life as she was winning American Idol. Singing is what makes me happy. I’m not good at sports, I’m not a straight A student, but I am good at singing. These are some reasons i’d love to be on Duets! I was raised in a small logging town outside of Eugene OR. lol, so I’ve got a little bit logger family, and a little bit hippie in me. 🙂 I’ve been playing the piano since I was five. When I was thirteen I wrote and performed in front a gymnasium full of my peers, “GIrl in Grey.” I participated in traditional/jazz choirs from thirteen to eighteen, sang in the Oregon Slavonic Choir which performed acapella nine part harmony’s from banned litergical music from back when the USSR took over Russia, and Ukranian folk music. When I was eighteen I participated in the Oregon Festival of American Music where the theme that year was “From Gospel to Swing.” Singing is how I feel closest to God, when I really feel free. If it wasn’t for music I would not have so brilliantly survived the repeated sexual assults that I did as a child and young lady, I certainly wouldn’t be looking into singing with you all. And get this….hehehe. I used to be a stripper and now I’m a baptized Christian! Even sing in the church choir…lol. In Beirut from 1997-2000 appeared at many hot spots on a regular basis, like the Hard Rock Cafe, Riviera Hotel, Regency Palace, Portemlio Hotel,Madison and the Marriot Hotel, to name a few. Also sung in many commercial jingles for the Hard Rock Cafe, Crepeway, Henry J. Beens. In 1999-2000 was a finalist in the World Championship of the Performing Arts, which brought me to the United States, ( and decided to stay ) Performing in venues here in California such as the Queen Mary for 7 years.. Jawanni HarrisMy dream is not over. When I sing my co-workers grab tissues to wipe their eyes from being so touched when I sing Whitney Houston song. I believe in you and me. I am 45 years old. I have perfomed in many talent shows and won 1st and 2nd place in many of them. Just have not gotten my break yet. I wont give up. I put my heart and soul into singing. I sing at weddings. Matter of fact an long time friend found me on facebook and I sang at her wedding over 18 years ago and her daughter was about 6 years of age. Her daughter was viewing her mom’s wedding tape and said mom please find Jawanni I want her to sing at my wedding. So guest what I am singing at her daughter wedding. God has given me a gift and I would love to share it with America. I sang all throughout high school and all my highschool buds just knew I would have been in the spot light. I am not giving up and I would be so honored to be on Duets, This would be a dream come true and I hope and pray that I get a call. My voice is a way to connect with peoples souls. Cree Brooks!!! ;)I love to sing!!!!!!!! 🙂 I can’t even remember what age I started, but I can remember my family breaking out into song sometimes while cleaning when I was younger. We would just laugh and have fun, I would always hit the notes nobody else tried lol. I have been telling myself to go on one this singing shows since I was 16, but I was always afraid of the whole failure part. My Mom and brother has always supported my voice, and I want to at least give this a try for them. I believe God give me a lot of special gifts, and one of them is singing. I love to see the range of emotions music can bring to an audience, and I feel alive when I am the voice that brings that emotion to people. I think a true artist understands how to create a piece of music that not only uses his or her voice but uses the instruments and the other voices in the piece to create an emotional and spiritual journey. Singing is everything to me and I have a whole spectrum of range from low to high, I have control and balance. I’ definitely a ballad or belting singer, but I can bring it down as well. Lindsey RennerI am Avery unique individual with a very intriguing and interesting story from start to finish, well I’m not finished yet 😉 I am 30 years old, I have a very unique powerful singer, quite possibly I could be described as a mix between a very powerful Aretha Franklin/ Carrie Underwood/ Bob Marley/ Janis Joplin/ Beyonce/ and when you mix them all together you get lindsey Renner. A beautiful soulful singer and person. I’m gorgeous, petite, but I’m a little pitbull;). I am a retired disabled veteran from the United States Army, I was injured in the line of Duty and medically retired from the military in 2008. I fractured both of my knee caps. I have three amazing children. After I was released from the Army I fu d the love of my ire my husband, at a Reggae music festival in Northern CA, ” Reggae on the River” , we got married. We live in an itty bitty teeny tiny small town in northern California , it’s called BLocksburg and there is only about maybe 100 people that live here. We live in Humboldt County CA . We live on a farm, I work 7 days a week pretty much 365 days a year. It’s hard, but very rewarding at the same time. We take pride in teaching our children the meaning of hardwork and dedication . I didn’t have the easiest life, I never knew my biological father, I was adopted by my step father who had a lot of personal issues. I grew up constantly being told that I wasn’t loved I wasn’t wanted and I would never be anything. To be honest with you, I started believing that. I had no self confidence, and i was treated very interesting because of that, because here was this gorgeous sweet intelligent woman who had no self co Filene in herself at all. I felt defeated, and hopeless, and that’s when I ended the army. I gained an immense strength, and meeting my husband who was so loving and supportive helped me to overcome a rather difficult and psychologically damaging childhood. I’ve overcome many obstacles in life and I don’t regret any of them, because they are what allow me to sing with such passion and such emotion now as an adult. I pursued a career in music when I was 21, but I just wasnt ready and opted to just concentrate on being a mother, but now at 30 I am ready to take on the challenge once a again. I am no longer just this shell Of an artist I am a complete artist, and it is those struggles that have made me who I am today. I know who I am,as a mother a wife and an individual but more I portantly as an artist. I have took on somewhat of a new school country artist feel. Country works well with my voice with my look and with my age 😉 I Initially pursued a career in R and B because for the small little petite person I am I have a HUGE GIGANTIC SOULFULvoice, but as I have aged I feel I would fit best in the cu try music genre and industry. I recently was contacted by my biological family, and I recently found out that I have 5 sisters and 1 brother. We united about a year ago and it was an amazing experience chat has changed my life so much for the better. I am Native American, I am Wailaki Indian from the Round Valley Covolo Tribe. I grew up in a white family and when I looked in the mirror I didn’t see a dark complected Native American and now that I have been able to co. Ect with my biological family my who,e perception of my self has changed. I’m passionate, I’m loving, and I am beautiful in and out. There’s just something about me. Everyone stops and stares when I enter the room. I’m memorable. I just have something inside me that intrigues people . I’ve been through so much, I over analyze everything and I always have, but for the first time in my life I’m ok with that. I love who I turned out to be, I love where I am. I have so much to say, and I want to share that and my voice with the world , and I wo t stop until I get my chance!!!! I’m ready and I know I can do this!!! I once had a tough choir teacher named Mrs. Reed……boy she was tough….she always use to have alot of solos in choir and i remember asking her why haven’t i had one…..she looked me in the eyes and told me work for it….if you love it that much….show me. So i practiced on my vocal skills every chance i got. I sang in the car everyday and heard so many shut ups…lol in a good way because i would learn so many new songs just to sing to them in the car and i would even sing in the shower because to me that’s relax time lol. More than anything in the world I would love the opportunity to make a living with my voice which is my talent and passion! I am best at duets so I am told!!! I use to perform with 3 women and 2 men and duets were part of our show! I was in a show band but have been a front man for years!
